DIVINE WAITING
David Abankwah
READ: Isaiah 40:31
Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!
-Psalms 27:14 | NKJV
I was once told by a friend that he was eagerly waiting for a certain lady to accept his proposal. To him, he had being waiting on the lady for the assurance that, one day he could hear an affirmation from her. For physical things, many believers are good in waiting but when it comes to spiritual things especially the second coming of Jesus Christ, many say they have waited for so long. What is wrong with this generation that many want things so fast and easy? What is wrong with this generation that waiting on God seems a thing of the past? What is wrong with this generation, that one can wait for physical food that perishes but can’t wait to hear the Word of God?
God is a God who works with time and seasons. Time is an element of waiting. God is an Omnipotent God but He used six days to create the universe. When you spend quality time waiting for the productivity towards a certain task, you do it well. Jesus Christ has promised us He is going to prepare a place for us, and when He is done, He will return and take us home. He has also promised us of eternal life for those who believe in Him and do His will. God is not human who tell lies. His Word is the Truth and He never fail in delivering His promises. From Genesis to Revelation, God has never lied. If you have anyone to wait on, God is the first and best option to consider.
Moses was someone who usually waited on God through fasting and prayers. He waited for 40 days and nights for the Ten Commandments and another 40 days and nights when he broke the tablets of the Ten Commandments. Daniel also used to wait on God for three times a day even though he was a Prime Minister who was usually busy. King David was also someone who usually waited on God before he went out to undertake battles. As a songwriter, he usually waited on God for spiritual songs. Even though Jesus Christ was God, He usually waited on His Father for the evening part of the day before ministering to the people during daylight.
The disciples were also entreated to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit before they could begin their ministries. There are many importance one can derive from divine waiting. Divine waiting renews one’s spiritual strength (Isaiah 40:31). Divine waiting brings about promotion or elevation (Isaiah 40:31). Divine waiting makes you overtake or soar higher than those ahead of you who couldn’t wait on God’s perfect timing (Isaiah 40:31). Divine waiting brings about good courage (Psalms 27:9). Divine waiting brings about inheritance of physical blessings (Psalms 37:9, 34). The blessing of the Holy Spirit and His gifts requires divine waiting (Acts 1:4, 2:1-4).

Lift up prayers for deliverance from fidgeting and impatience so you can have hope and faith to be available in the presence of God as you wait on God in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
When you are told to wait, it is a test to evaluate your level of patience.
