FAITHFUL STEWARD
David Abankwah
READ: 1 Corinthians 4:1-2

His Lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and FAITHFUL SERVANT; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.’
-Matthew 25:21 | NKJV

Christianity is all about faithfulness to our Lord Jesus Christ. This is because Christianity was founded on faithfulness. Jesus Christ was first faithful to His Father in deeds and in actions. Because faithfulness is costly, He had to pay the price or sacrifice of His position as a God to be a man. From the womb to the time He ascended into heaven, He carried himself in all manner of faithfulness in life. He was the first man to live a sinless life all the days of his life as a mortal. Sin is what makes us unfaithful to God because living a sinful life is being faithful to Satan. It is either you are faithful to God which makes you unfaithful to Satan or vice versa.

In ministry too, the sheep that God gave Him were all cared for, nourished, and protected them with His life in the sense that, none of them went astray except the one who was not one of the sheep, thus the son of perdition (Judas Iscariot). As believers, we are also entrusted into our hands certain sheep, certain ministries, certain gifts, or certain works of service. Our gifts or offices of ministry may vary, but we have the same purpose: Soul winning. The reason when you accept Jesus Christ into your life, you don’t immediately go to heaven is that, there is a work you must do. As Christ was faithful in his quest for salvation of lost souls, so you must save others too.

As believers, we may vary in terms of the gifts we have to operate in the quest for soul-winning. One may have all the five-fold ministries, also called an Apostle. One may be gifted with one or more seat(s) of ministry, whether a Teacher, Evangelist, Pastor or Prophet (Ephesians 4:11). Another can be gifted with works of service which can be gifts of healing, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:28). Even though there are good and perfect gifts, one must be content in his office of ministry and be faithful with the little that he has. It is not a time to envy others’ ministries. All you have to do is to be productive, and more will be given to you. Don’t be a believer and say I don’t do anything for God.

Don’t be like the wicked steward who dug and hid his gift in the ground (Matthew 25:18). God didn’t call you to warm the church pews neither did He call you to be fruitless. He called us all to be faithful in fruit bearing of souls. He also called us to bear fruits of sanctification, righteousness, and holiness. As we are busy winning other people’s souls, we shouldn’t become signboards. When Jesus Christ comes the second time, will He say to you: Good and faithful servant or wicked and lazy steward? Faithful stewards will be rewarded with the crown of life in New Jerusalem and unfaithful ones will be rewarded with the Second death in the lake of fire.

It is a top-notch wickedness to let your gift of ministry lie dormant.
