SLAVES OF CHRIST
David Abankwah
READ: Philippians 2:5-8
For he who is called in the Lord while a slave is the Lord’s freedman. Likewise he who is called while free is CHRIST’S SLAVE.
-I Corinthians 7:22 | NKJV
A slave and a servant are two words which are often used to mean one thing but they have different meanings. A slave is a person who is legally owned by another and having no freedom of action or right to property. A slave is also someone who is forced to work for another against his will. A servant also means a person who performs duties for others, especially a person employed in the house of someone for domestic duties, helpful follower or supporter. Slaves are often bought with a price but servants are rather hired. Slaves often have inheritances when they serve well but servants are paid or given wages but no inheritance is given to them.
Slaves don’t have their self will to live or to choose other masters to live with but servants can choose to quit their jobs for the work of others anytime they feel like. In Christianity, there are two main people: BELIEVERS and CHRISTIANS. A believer is a servant of Christ and a Christian is a slave of Christ. What makes someone a Christian, is the Holy Spirit. Why am I saying this? As I said earlier on, a slave doesn’t have his self will but the will of the master is what controls him. The believer can have the Holy Spirit WITH him, UPON him, or ON him but not IN him, but the Christian has the Holy Spirit who LIVES IN him. That’s the difference.
When the Holy Spirit comes upon, on or with you, He can give you gift(s) to serve Christ or for you to be a servant but that doesn’t mean you are a Christian. We can see this in Matthew 25:14-15 when the Master (Holy Spirit who is Christ unlimited) gave his servants talents to work with. The reason you are not a Christian is that, the Holy Spirit cannot control you. This is because you still control yourself through your self will and not the will of God. For Him to control you, the blood of Jesus Christ should purchase or redeem you from sin because the things that you have bought, you have control over. Then, He can stay in you. Christianity is a marriage between Jesus Christ and the church.
For a man to be your head or your ruler or your husband, he first have to pay a dowry to the father of the lady. In Christianity too, the bride of Christ is the church. For you to become a bride of Christ, you first have to allow Jesus Christ to pay your brideprice with His blood to the father of all lies (the devil) so He can have you legally as His property or slave. Then, you can become a freedman from Satan (because a sinner is a slave of sin) but a slave to Christ (because a Christian is a slave of righteousness, holiness, and sanctification). Because you have been bought, you have no control, or self-will anymore. The laws of your Master is what must rule you for the rest of your life.

Lift up prayers for the blood of Jesus Christ to purchase you from the father of sin, so the will of God can control you for the rest of your life in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
Eternal life is for those who are slaves of Jesus Christ.
