CHURCH ATTENDANCE
David Abankwah
READ: Luke 24:53
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
-Hebrews 10:25 | NKJV
Attendance is the action or state of going regularly to or being present at a place or event. To become a doctor, you have to be attend medical lectures. To become a lawyer you have to attend law lectures. To become an engineer, you have to attend engineering lectures. To become a journalist, you have to attend journalism lectures. You can’t stay in your house and assume you know everything that is being taught in school. You can’t stay in your house and be at par with someone who is a regular school attendee. I have realized that those who are intelligent love to be in school always while those who are dumb like absenting themselves.
I have been a student couple of times. When I started elementary school, I didn’t like going to school at all. I saw my parents as wicked for letting me into a place where I couldn’t find the friends I would play or have fun with. I found home as the best place to be, but my parents had foresight about my future more than the present. There was one time my teacher sent some boys to drag me into school and that day I was severely beaten. Even though you can be in the house and attend classes virtually through technological means, you can’t be at par with someone who is a physical attendee.
Which one will you prefer: A doctor who had his doctorate degree in the house without doing any practicals and a doctor who had his doctorate degree in a medical university? That is what Christianity also is. Christianity is like a school. You can’t stay in your house everyday and expect to have a certification in the Lord. First of all, it is obligatory for you to go to the church premises (Hebrews 10:25). Second, when we meet, the essence of exhortation is achieved. Third, when we meet as a church, we are able to redeem the time we are in and awareness is created for the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (Hebrews 10:25).
Fourth, when we meet in church, we obtain mercy and grace that help us in times when we need it most (Hebrews 4:16). Fifth, the holy communion can only be taken when the church meets together (Luke 22:14-20; 1 Corinthians 11:17-26). Sixth, when we come together, the Holy Spirit who is the same as the Spirit of Jesus Christ comes to fellowship with us (Matthew 18:20). Seventh, some people will not have the Holy Spirit’s baptism, until the church meets together (Acts 2:1-4). Eighth, when we come together, we are taught and admonished through various means (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16).
•| Prayer Diary |•
Lift up prayers for the Spirit of humility and strength to be present at every required church meeting and to partake in its activities in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
Some believers cannot have spiritual certification who is the Holy Spirit until the church meets.
