DISPENSATION OF PROMISE
David Abankwah
READ: Galatians 3:15-18
Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the PROMISE might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.
-Romans 4:16 | NKJV
The dispensation of ignorance started from the beginning of the world to the time man fell in the Garden of Eden. God was in the affairs of men until the unexpected happened when man succumbed to another master who was Satan. The dispensation of conscience started when man was banished from the Garden of Eden to fend for himself. Even in this dispensation, God still had affairs in the lives of men. Glimpses of God’s affairs in the lives of men was when Noah found grace in the sight of men; Enoch walking with God for 300 years and was no more because God took him up; and God’s walk with Abraham – the Father of faith.
The coming of the Messiah was long planned by God. He had a foresight about how He could sacrifice His Son Jesus Christ to restore man with the New Eden which is called New Jerusalem. But that could not be achieved if the necessary laid down plans which is faith did not begin and that was when the dispensation of promise was very crucial. God first sent one of his cabinet who is called Abraham. Abraham was not just an ordinary man. In fact, no one is ordinary, I must say. We are all here to fulfill various purposes. No one was created to fill vacuum and as long as the earth remains, nature detests vacuum. Abraham was sent purposely to kickstart the dispensation of promise.
Abraham was also one of the four living creatures who came like any ordinary person. Such as God came in the form of flesh and many didn’t know He was so, so it is for every mortal. The Godly kind of divine intuition is taken before you were born so you wouldn’t know who your real identity is, until you meet God. Sometimes when we read about Elijah as a man subject to like passions, we think that is all but Elijah is not just an ordinary man. As God came from Nazareth, a place where no proper personality came from, so Abram, came from Uz which was in Mesopotamia. Abram was not even a Jew but a Gentile.
He was in the household of other gods and God had to call him from there. Because God wants us to know we have flaws that’s why He allows us to have sinful history so we can come to Him who is the Holy One for salvation. The promise was not just the promised land but the promise of Jesus Christ – the Messiah. Abram becoming Abraham (thus ham which means seed) was the medium through which the Son of God would be born. Because Jesus Christ would be the Author and Finisher of our faith, that was why Abraham had to be the father of faith and had to prove that by sacrificing his son Isaac which would point to John 3:16.

Lift up prayers for the increment of your faith to be earnestly expectant of the promise concerning Christ’s second coming in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
The promise of men can fail but the promise of God is steadfast and sure.
