BIBLICAL RESEARCH

READ: 1 Timothy 4:13

These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.
-Acts 17:11 | NKJV

In a monarchical kingdom, there is a sense of nobility. A Knight (a man ceremonially inducted into special military rank usually after completing service as page and squire) is seen as a noble. In the divine kingdom of God which is autocratic, there is also a a sense of nobility. You don’t need to do the services of a squire or page to be noble. The Bereans showed us how one can achieve nobility in the kingdom. Anytime Apostle Paul came to their church to preach, they received His message with great eagerness. Their minds were not doing business when they were in church. They didn’t wish Paul should close earlier than usual or did not point to their time to signal him to close.

Anytime the message was going on, their spiritual ears were always receptive to receive the message because they knew that it was the spiritual ears that are used to receive God’s Word and not carnal ears. They were so noble that, anytime the Word of God was preached, they were ever ready to be doers of God’s Word and not just hearers only, deceiving themselves. And one character that made them more noble than the Thessalonica church was that, after church was closed, they didn’t put their Bibles under their beds and sleep on them, but always did additional Biblical research into the Scriptures to see if what Paul said was true or not. They didn’t want to be deceived at all.

As students of the Word of God, they did personal extra classes in the Scriptures to rightly divide the Word of God in truth. Do we do Biblical research into the quotations that our Pastors preach on or do we just take them like that just because the preacher was an Apostle, Evangelist, Prophet, Pastor, Teacher, Pope, Father, Archbishop, Eminent, or holder of PhD? If the writer of more than half of the Books of the New Testament was examined every day to see if what he preached was true or not, then believers of today need to do better. It is because many believers don’t do Biblical research that’s why they are deceived and through that, perish as a result.

There are certain times I make mistakes in my write-ups. Maybe it could be typographical errors or unintentional but when you do Biblical research into the Scriptures, you will discover that I had misquoted and I need to be prompted. When a teacher or preacher misquotes you can know, but how will you know if a Prophet’s prophecy is false? Without doing Biblical research, you can’t judge prophecies and that is one area a lot of people are deceived through. Don’t become slothful about your salvation. If you don’t do Biblical research, how will you know if your blind Pastor is leading you the wrong way? You will not say that my Pastor says that, rather, the Bible says this.

Lift up prayers for untiring effort and nobility to avail yourself readily to the Word of God and to search the Scriptures to know God for yourself rather than being spoonfed in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
Doing extra things concerning the things of God, is what separates the boys from the men.
