NO TURNING BACK
David Abankwah
READ: Genesis 19:17-26
But Jesus said to him, “No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
-Luke 9:62 | NKJV
When you sit down and analyze the things that lead one into hell, you will realize that they are repetitious things of sin. To flow in the ways of righteousness can be done without any flimsy excuses. If it is easier to sin, then it is easier to be a righteous person. It is just a change of mindset, and this is what is called repentance. We have been encouraged by motivational speakers that what we wish we can accomplish is possible but if we can apply such the possibility mentality in Christianity, it will work. Jesus Christ has done much on the cross for us. For unbelievers and sinners, don’t let His death be in vain. Don’t let His heart be broken for the love He has for you. You have a chance today to make things right.
And for believers, having been called by God from Egypt or the world into Christianity, don’t play with your salvation. Any believer who sins and still serve God partly is cursed! If you want to serve God fully, serve Him, if not, turning back has its consequences. It is a blessing to come to God and it is a curse to leave Him. When Adam and Eve fellowshipped with God, it was all about blessing but when they turned their back on Him through disobedience, they were cursed. One time someone told Jesus Christ that if he would follow Him, He should let him turn back and say goodbye to his family first and when he is done, he can come into Christianity again.
Jesus Christ told him, that was not possible. No one put his hand to the plow and looks back, is fit for service in the kingdom of God. In farming, to plow and look back is really dangerous. You can get injured or die in the process. Plowing is a headlong operation. It demands you to look forward and not backwards because you are done plowing what is behind. There are many believers who are injured (fallen) in the spirit because they had looked back. There are many believers who are dead spiritually because they have turned their back on God into the world they confessed they are done with, during their altar call. Looking back means you are missing out concerning the things of the world.
The world can offer you apparently everything but it can’t offer you eternal life. You don’t know the weight, value, power, price, honour, magnitude, and worth of eternal life that’s why you are playing with your salvation. It is true you once used to enjoy the things of the world but now you are suffering serving God. You may think God is not with you because of the things you are going through. Have the mindset of no turning back and you will do just fine. In this world, you will suffer but beyond this crazy world, you will enjoy a life eternal in New Jerusalem. Don’t let anyone or anything come between you and your salvation. Look onto Jesus Christ the Author and Finisher of your faith and never look back.

Lift up prayers to look to Jesus the Author and Finisher of your faith so you will never lose sight of Him and turn back to the world in the name of Jesus Christ.

Pillar of salt is the fate of everyone who turns his or her back on God.
