PURPOSE

READ: Luke 2:49-50
Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.
-John 6:26 | NKJV
After Jesus Christ fed 5000 men with women and children exclusive, He came to the other side of the sea in Capernaum and the people who were fed the day before asked Him when did He arrive. The purpose of the people seeking Him was because of food which was disclosed by Jesus Christ (John 6:26). What is your purpose for seeking God? What is the purpose why you do the work of God: is it because of money or it is because of souls? What is the purpose why you want position in the church: for fame, pride or for service? What is your purpose for going to church: is it because of a child, prosperity, job, marriage, networks of benefit, healing, or eternal life?
Like the people who sought Jesus Christ, many are following Jesus Christ now for the wrong purpose. When you ask many believers why they go to church, they will tell you it is because of heaven. When you ask many believers why they serve God, they will tell you they want to escape hell. That’s an opportunistic purpose, you know. You want to benefit from God but what benefit can God get from you too? Do we ask ourselves such question or we don’t care about what God can get from us, right? God also has a purpose. Inasmuch as He sent His one and only begotten Son to die for us, He expects us to love Him and extend His love to others for them to have salvation (Mark 12:30).
This tells us that, the main purpose why we serve God is love And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment -Mark 12:30 | NKJV. We need to return that love because it has become a debt we must pay. Owe no one anything EXCEPT TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law -Romans 13:8 | NKJV. If we catch the revelation of love as the main purpose why we serve God, it will be impossible to sin against Him. Sin is not committed against man, but against God. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” -Genesis 39:9 | NKJV.
Because every humanbeing is God’s image, sinning against man is indirectly against God. Don’t follow God for the wrong reason or purpose. That is the reason when many people accomplish the purpose why they followed God, they stop coming to church. God can bless you materially, but you will miss New Jerusalem. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
-Matthew 16:26 | NKJV. When you truly love someone, there is no way you can offend the person. That was the secret of the sinless life of Jesus Christ. Because of love (John 3:16), it was impossible for Him to sin against us.

Lift up prayers for the renewing of your mind towards love as the main purpose why you must serve the Lord in the name of Jesus Christ.
