THE CALL OF GOD
David Abankwah
READ: 1 Timothy 6:12

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be CALLED CHILDREN OF GOD! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
-I John 3:1 | NKJV

In this world of opportunism, calling someone is for the benefit of the summoner. Hardly will someone call you without an underlying help the person needs now or later in time. What is so funny is that, there are people who will call you without asking you for any help, but they are gradually gathering the momentum for doing so. Like a heap of sand, they are tripling on you till you can no longer escape it. Genuine call of seeking someone’s welfare is becoming a thing of the past. If a male normally calls a lady, majority is because of romantic relationship he might be seeking. If a lady calls a guy, it is because of a need which is usually centred on money.

But have we come to realise the call of God? Have you discerned into the benefits we even get more that the summoner? The call of God benefits us more than it benefits God. Many think when they don’t heed to the call of God, God is at the risk of losing. What can you do for God without Him helping you? If you think God cease to be God because He can’t do something without you, then that’s a wrong mentality. God is Omnipotent – All powerful. If He can even raise stones to praise Him, without using men, then we need to revise our notes. If He can even use a beast to do evangelism, then Ministers of God need to be careful about their call.

The ultimate purpose of God’s call is eternal life. God called you to save your soul so He can use you to save others too. You were not called to warm the church pews. You enjoy reading my devotionals, but when was the last time you preached to someone? You think the work of God is for certain specific people, right? As a believer, you are part of the work of evangelism and soul-winning. Many die everyday without the hope of eternal life. What are we doing about it as believers? Many Ministers don’t want to do the purpose for which they were called but they want to reap its benefits. They think the church is their property.

The church is not another business avenue to make money. God didn’t call you to make money, neither did He call you to be famous. Many believers also don’t even know why they were called. They live in sin and call that grace. They don’t do the work for which they were called but they pray to God for help. Can you pay someone who hasn’t work for you? Many believers have left the divine call and are seeking their own self-oriented calling. The divine call is a privilege for you to get and not your right. Many people want that but they are not getting it. If you are called by God, focus on the call of eternal life and don’t look elsewhere.

•| Prayer Diary |•
Lift up prayers to cling to the divine call of eternal life for which you were called and to seek the salvation of others who are without in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
Eternal life is the main purpose for which we were called to be children of God.
