JESUS CHRIST
(THE ONE AND ONLY TRUE GOD)
David Abankwah
SERIES: Day 8
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, EVERLASTING FATHER, Prince of Peace.
-Isaiah 9:6 | NKJV
Many of us think God the Father is different from Jesus Christ of Nazareth. In fact, as John 3:16 says that God the Father gave us His begotten Son, I used to think that God the Father gave birth to Jesus Christ in heaven before having Him as His Son. Also, some think that Jesus Christ was created by God the Father. Many see that the God who created the universe is different from the God who came down to become a Son of God – Jesus Christ. In Isaiah 9:6, we saw that a prophesy was given about the coming of God who would be among men – Emmanuel (God with us). There were many titles that were prophesied that He would have.
First of all, the Son of God would be called Wonderful, meaning He would do miraculous things that would baffle people’s minds. Such works included walking on the sea, calming the storm, feeding thousands with few food, casting out the legion from the madman of Gardara, the healing of the touching of his hem by the woman with the issue of blood, turning water into wine that led to Nicodemus’s salvation, and many more. The wonderful title or attribute in Isaiah 9:6 was the miraculous and healing ministry of Jesus Christ as He walked the earth. In Isaiah 9:6, we also got to know that Jesus Christ would be called the title ‘ Counselor.’
The Counseling title was His preaching and teaching ministry. No wonder Nicodemus who was a Teacher called Jesus Christ as a Teacher. It is not easier for a Pharisee to call someone who is not in their circle, a Teacher. Every time, the Pharisees had to come to Him for counselling when they always presented seemingly difficult case studies before Him to solve or answer. Now, to the important thing why today’s devotional was written: JESUS CHRIST IS THE FATHER. In Isaiah 9:6, we got to know that Jesus Christ is the Mighty God. He transfigured Himself on the mount to prove that He is God (Mark 9:2-13; Luke 9:28-36; 2 Peter 1:16-18).
In Isaiah 9:6, we got to know that Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace. Because His feet was peace, there was no war recorded in the world during His lifetime. In the same Isaiah 9:6, we got to know that He is the Everlasting Father. Jesus Christ said in John 10:30, I and my Father are One. Philip asked Him to show him the Father. Jesus Christ told him that He is the Father and they didn’t need to look elsewhere because they had seen Him (John 14:9). In Revelation 22:13, He said: I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last”
-Revelation 22:13 | NKJV. There is no definite say about Jesus Christ being the Father than this. There is no other God beside Him.

Lift up prayers for the divine enlightenment of your mind’s eyes to see Jesus as the Father and to serve Him with the reverence He needs in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
Jesus Christ is the Father yesterday, today as the Son and tomorrow as the Holy Spirit. He is still the same one and only True God.
