Today ends our series on Jesus Christ as the One and Only True God of the Bible and I hope you have been blessed by going through these excerpts. We will be talking about Jesus Christ as the Great and Awesome God. He is the very Lord and God of the Israelites and now of the Gentiles also. There is no difference between the God of the Israelites, the God who is walking with us now and the God we will behold His face in New Jerusalem some day. There is only One God who is mighty and awesome. That same God who appeared before the Israelites as mighty and terrible was the same God who thundered with a voice while He was flesh (John 12:28-29).
Isn’t Jesus Christ awesome? He was here on earth, yet He spoke from heaven. We say everything is possible with God, yet, when it comes to seeing the Trinity as One and Only True God whose name is Jesus Christ, we think that is impossible for God. The Bible says that, the heaven is His resting place and the earth is His footstool. That happened when God became flesh. He came and walked the earth, yet, He still abided in heaven. That was why He was always referring to the Father (thus where He was resting presently). He was walking on the earth, yet, He was resting in heaven. How mighty and awesome this Great God (Jesus Christ) is.
When He took Peter, James, and John to the mountain to pray, He wanted them to know who He really was. He was not a Son of man as they used to know, but God Himself. He transfigured before them, His face shining like the sun and His clothes as pure as light. He was physically present with them, yet, He was in Heaven spiritually. He thundered from heaven and spoke to them. Even if Paul who was a human being was spiritually present with the church of Corinth (1 Corinthians 5:3), but physically present somewhere, why can’t God do same? We are physically present in our rooms, but spiritually present elsewhere when we sleep. Isn’t that awesomeness?
This is because, we were created in the image of God. Jesus Christ gave us glimpses of His awesomeness though the miracles He did. No one has ever walked on the sea before. No one has ever calmed a storm 2000 years ago and it is still obeying that command even until now. No one has ever died and rose again and is still living until now. No one can see God and live because of His awesomeness and how Great He is, that was why He became flesh. That was why He was always referring to the glory of His awesomeness and Greatness as ‘Father’ when He became flesh. If God is three and you end up in New Jerusalem, which God are you going to serve?

Lift up prayers for the strength to practise the righteousness, holiness, and sanctification of beholding the awesomeness and the greatness of God in the name of Jesus Christ.
