EXCOMMUNICATION
David Abankwah
SERIES: Day 5

The hands of the witnesses shall be the first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hands of all the people. SO YOU SHALL PUT AWAY THE EVIL FROM AMONG YOU.
-Deuteronomy 17:7 | NKJV

Excommunication is not outmoded. Many churches who think this is outmoded don’t know the God they serve. In the Kingdom of God, He doesn’t need sinners there that is why the Bible is there to teach, rebuke, correct and train us in righteousness so we will not be excommunicated into the lake of fire during the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. From the Old Testament, God has demonstrated to us that He doesn’t need dual characters of righteousness and sin in His Kingdom. He doesn’t need both sinners and righteous people in His kingdom. That is why He has demonstrated how we should put away sinners who know the truth and have been taught of, from our midst.

It is different story altogether concerning new members of the church or new converts. They need to be taught as Jesus Christ entreated the church to do for them after their baptism in Matthew 28:20. If you become a member of a denomination, and after teaching you for some months or years, you still deliberately sin, then you will be excommunicated either physically by the church or spiritually by the twenty-four elders. Don’t think that when you are excommunicated from the church, that is all. You will also be chastened or be punished by God (Hebrews 12:3-11; Proverbs 3:11-13). If we get to know the harm sin causes, we will not be entertained by it.

If God could have brought the law of excommunication of the Old Testament into our time (New Testament), by now, the church would have been virtually empty. A lot of church members would have been stoned just because of how they have been abused grace and are fooling around in sin. Before one can be excommunicated, there must be witnesses who are more than one (Deuteronomy 17:6). Today in the church, because of enmity, hatred, bitterness, grudges, offences, envy, jealousy, certain church members have been excommunicated based on reports of false witnessing. Make sure your witness is the truth and not based on hearsays.

If you wrongly excommunicate people based on hearsays and not based on the truth, you stand the risk of God’s wrath. You are cursed! If what you have heard is not proved by what you have seen or what God has revealed to you or said concerning the offender, don’t attempt excommunicating the person. Even if the person came to you to confess his or her sins, you should do well to look into it again for divine clarification. If you secretly sinned but no one saw it, God, four living creatures, twenty-four elders, heavenly angels, Satan, his fallen angels and your flesh will testify against you in the spirit for spiritual excommunication. No secret can be concealed forever.

•| Prayer Diary |•
Lift up prayers for the consciousness of the cloud of witnesses concerning the life you live, both physically and spiritually so you won’t become conversant with sin in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
Because one cannot be prosecuted without any evidence, one cannot be excommunicated without a witness.
