EXCOMMUNICATION
David Abankwah
SERIES: Day 13

Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.
-Acts 5:5 | NKJV

We are much familiar with the true life story of Ananias and Sapphira. It was an excommunication done by the Holy Spirit in Peter because of their lying. True excommunication is not done by the will of man but by the move of the Holy Spirit. So if you leave the church and think you can go to a different church all in the name of escaping guilt and shame, the Holy Spirit is still present there because the church is for the Holy Spirit (Spirit of Christ). Another group of people God will be speaking to us today who needs to be eligible for excommunication, are liars. There is a punishment meted out for every excommunication you face. You can’t sin and go scot free.

At first when someone is excommunicated in Israel, that person is stoned to death but now, because of grace, your life may be spared but your flesh will still bear many adverse consequences so your soul can be saved by God. But when these adverse consequences happen, many times, we think they are the works of the devil. The adverse consequence for Ananias and Sapphira’s excommunication, was death. This didn’t happen in the Old Testament, but the New Testament. If two people lied and God killed them, we need to be careful about lies. But today, lying is like a fashion. When you don’t lie and cut corners, you can’t be prosperous immediately.

When we talk about ‘big sins,’ we may mention sexual immoralities, idolatry, heresies etc and leave lies, but it is lying that makes one become a legitimate child of Satan. YOU ARE OF YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and DOES NOT STAND IN THE TRUTH, BECAUSE THERE IS NO TRUTH IN HIM. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for HE IS A LIAR AND THE FATHER OF IT -John 8:44 | NKJV. You will bear with me that the papers you are using to work in abroad are not yours. You are using someone else’s to deceive the state.

Today in the court of law, truth is not spoken there, but the law. Someone holding the Bible can swear to tell the truth, but he or she will still lie because many have at the back or their mines that when God takes His stone, He doesn’t throw it fast or He is slack at punishing evil doers as contrary to idols. Mobile phones, computers and other gadgets have made it easier for lying and fraudulent acts to take place. Speaking the truth and living by it has become bitter medicine for many believers now. No amount of prayers can make you have the Holy Spirit if you are not a truthful person. How can you be a true worshipper of God in these last days if you are a liar?

•| Prayer Diary |•
Lift up prayers for deliverance from the spirit of lies that influences you to have bitterness and unwillingness towards the truth in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
You can’t be a true worshipper of God if you are a chronic liar and a serial pretender.
