THE EVANGELISTIC SEAT
David Abankwah
SERIES: Day 7
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some EVANGELISTS, and some pastors and teachers,
-Ephesians 4:11 | NKJV
The first person to sit on the Evangelistic seat was Noah. When we mention Noah, what comes to mind is his ark and the flood. What happened in the Old Testament about the first Evangelist (Noah) was the same that happened in the New Testament. Why am I saying so? This is because every Evangelist is a spiritual fisherman. Also, every Evangelist is like an ark, a ship, or a canoe. When Jesus Christ began His ministry, He came to the shore to choose some of His disciples. There were many fishermen there, but He passed them by and came to Peter. Jesus Christ told him He wanted to use his boat to preach. After the preaching, He told Peter to cast the net to the deepest to catch fish.
After much deliberation, Peter obeyed and caught many fish. The boat represented Peter (the Apostle – in him was the Evangelistic ministry because every Apostle operates all the fourfold ministries) as it also happened in the time of Noah. The net is the Word of God. No Evangelist can win souls without the Word of God. The sea represents the world. The world is the field of souls. It takes the Word of God to catch souls. It is not just the written Word but the power behind the Word that matters. Jesus Christ in the boat or canoe tells us that without the direction, utterance, conviction, leadership, power, drive of the Spirit of Jesus Christ (Holy Spirit), no soul can be won.
It is not a personal message that an Evangelist prepares down to preach about, but what Jesus Christ tells them to preach about Him. It is Jesus Christ who tells an Evangelist to say what he has to say. It is not all Preachers who are Evangelists, but all Evangelists are Preachers. Anytime Jesus Christ went into the crowd, He preached but when He was with the disciples, He taught. Have you asked yourself that question? Jesus Christ didn’t speak to the disciples in parables but when He went out to preach, He spoke in parables. That is what an Evangelist is. The parables that we think is the same old story of Jesus Christ and the cross is the same Word that will save the lost. It is a mystery!
After the catch, we didn’t hear Peter using the fish that was caught or sold some for income. That is what Evangelists must do when they win souls. The people you have won is not a privilege for you to get more money. The motive of True Evangelists is not money but the salvation of the souls. They can spend all they have to save one soul and it wouldn’t worry them a bit. Because many people are Preachers and not Evangelists, when they don’t get money from the work they are doing, they quit. God didn’t choose you to give you money. If that had been the case, He would have employed you as a Finance Minister and not an Evangelistic Minister.

Lift up prayers and commit True Evangelists into the hands of God. Ask God to always lead them with His Word so He can draw lost souls to Himself in the name of Jesus Christ.
