REPENT OR PERISH
David Abankwah
SERIES: Day 24
Envy, murders, drunkenness, REVELRIES, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
-Galatians 5:21 | NKJV
A revelry or wild party is a noisy partying and merrymaking. Another words for revelry are wild party, conviviality, festivity, gaiety, jollification, jollity, merriment, merrymaking, rejoicing, reveling, and whoopee. The Bible is not against entertainment, but it is against where, how and what the kind of entertainment is. In fact, one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit is joy. Irrespective of the fact that you are a melancholic who is usually marked by demeanour of sadness, the Holy Spirit will stir up the inner person who is the soul to be joyful irrespective of what he has and what he has not. If you are a believer and you are not having inner joy always, there is something wrong and the Holy Spirit is absent.
There is difference between happiness and joy. Happiness is the feel good factor that comes because of positive circumstances. Some people feel good when they have money. Some feel good on their wedding days. Some feel good when they give birth. Some feel good when they travel. Some feel good when they get jobs. But when negative circumstances like losses, sacrifices, death, and sufferings set in, they lose that feel-good-factor. The smiles they once used to have, then turns into mourning. But joy is not only based on only positive circumstance. Even in negative circumstances, the feel-good-factor is even heightened than the former. Our joy is not in any material thing but in God alone. The joy of the Lord is our strength.
There are so many benefits one gets when one serves God well in all righteousness, holiness, and sanctification. Joy is beneficial to our physical and spiritual health. The soul needs to be entertained that he has a place prepared for him above. Sometimes the Holy Spirit reveals Paradise and New Jerusalem to the soul that that is where he will be some time to come. Because of the inner joy which comes as a result of the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, the believer doesn’t need to be entertained by physical wild partying in night clubs, pubs, and ungodly places. It is not every place a believer must make merry. Psalms 1:1 entreated us not to find ourselves in ungodly places if it is not for the purpose of soul-winning.
Today, many churches have allowed revelry to enter the church. The youth ministry has turned into wild partying. What many youth ministries want, is to mingle with themselves and swim in pools and have fun when their libidos are at their peak. No wonder sexual immorality is worst within the youth in the church. The joy of the Lord is not their strength anymore but joy of the world. Today, church can be there but many believers will be having their weddings and refreshments at ungodly places. It is on many wedding days, that many false believers are exposed because of ungodly dressing, makeups, ungodly songs being played at the event, ungodly dancing and merrymaking.

Lift up prayers for deliverance from the Spirit of wild partying so the joy of the Lord can be your strength in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
If your happiness is only in material things, then, you are not bearing the spiritual fruit of joyfulness.
