CHRISTIAN HAIR DRESSING
David Abankwah

Nor shall you swear by your head, because YOU CANNOT MAKE ONE HAIR WHITE OR BLACK.
-Matthew 5:36 | NKJV

As we all know, our bodies are the temples of God (1 Corinthians 3:16) and we have to take care of it well in terms of moral uprightness. We will all stand before the judgement seat of Jesus Christ and everything we did with our bodies, we will surely account for it. One area that has undergone serious controversy is Christan dressing. Many say that God looks into the heart so whatever you wear and whatever you do with your body, doesn’t matter. If it doesn’t matter, then we will all go into New Jerusalem with the dresses we want and not what Jesus Christ will give us. If you are ready to be saved, then make sure you are accustomed to the Christian culture of dressing here on earth before you get there.

In Matthew 5:36, Jesus Christ gave a strong warning about how we should dress our hair. Many women treat their hair as if it is not part of God’s creation. They think they created their own hair or something, so if you speak about it, it seems like it is out of bounds. Many women will go to hell just because of how they dress their hair. The first woman in the Bible to bleach her hair was Jezebel. It looked as if when Jezebel died, that was the end but her spirit lived on. The same Jesus Christ who taught us how we should dress our hair well in Matthew 5:36, was the same Jesus Christ who told the church that, we should beware of Jezebelic spirit that influences the way we should dress our hair in an ungodly manner in Revelation 2:20.

Today many churches have become the church of Thyatira. They permit women who have plaited their hair, done attachment of other hair to their natural hair, dyed their hair, bleached their hair (perming), and leaving their hair uncovered to stand before the pulpit to minister. No wonder the Holy Spirit has left many churches and now many people are living in churches that are dead. The spirit of Jezebel is pompous or arrogant so when you tell women to dress their hair well, they get mad and if care is not taken, they will even leave the church. It is better to speak the truth as a Minister and lose the congregation than to pamper them and keep multitudes. Truth is bitter at the start but sweeter at the end.

Men too must learn how to dress their hair well. As a man don’t fade your hair if you have your hair cut. There shouldn’t be any creation of false balances in your hair because it is abomination to the Lord. You shouldn’t create paths into your hair like worldly people. You shouldn’t draw anything in your hair and you shouldn’t dye your hair too. Also, you shouldn’t apply cosmetics to grow hair in any part of your body especially the beard. If God didn’t give you beard, it is not a curse! Beard is not a sign of maturity. Maturity is in the way of thinking not the way of applying cosmetics. As a man don’t bleach your hair and don’t do any attachment of other hair, but maintain your natural hair. It is better to impress God and look odd.

Lift up prayers for the spirit of humility to be led by the Holy Spirit concerning your way of dressing in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
It is better to impress God with your Christian dressing and look odd than to impress the world with carnally oriented dressing.
