SINCERITY
David Abankwah
READ: James 5:12
But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
-Matthew 5:37 | NKJV
One character trait God abhors is hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is the feigning to be what one is not or to believe what one does not: behavior that contradicts what one claims to believe or feel. God wants us to stick to the truth of where we want to belong – whether His side or Satan’s side. For that reason He told us in Revelation 3:16 He will vomit lukewarm or hypocrites from His mouth. Being neither cold nor hot as a lukewarm person, is living your life under both a ‘yes’ and a ‘no’ lifestyle. What is between a yes and a no lifestyle is what is called ‘HYPOCRISY.’ God wants us to desist from the habit of a child who can be tossed to and fro from the things we said we will do and the things we said we will not do.
One area we will be very condemned and justified at the same time, is our choice of words. Even every idle word we say, we will give account thereof. In Matthew 5:37, Jesus Christ said we should let our yes be yes and our no be no. God is a sincere God. He doesn’t go contrary to what He has said and that is what He wants us to become. Today many men promise ladies that they will marry them, but when they realise, they are marrying someone else. Note that, what you are doing now, it is piling up for your children. That is the same way a guy will disappoint your female child. Maybe she cannot get out of her broken heart. The ladies too, if you don’t like the guy, tell him to stop wasting his time pursuing you.
Let your yes be yes and your no be no. Don’t let a yes be a no and a no be a yes. Be plain and be sincere. That is what God wants. Bosses, be sincere to your employees. If you agreed on a certain salary and incentives, make sure you provide on time as contracted. Don’t wait till you are pressured before releasing the money. Be sincere to your employees. If there is no money to pay them, let them know and stop acting funny. There is no better integrity like sincerity. Even if you want to be saved, you need to apply sincerity to the Word of God. Church members, be sincere to the time you have to report in the house of God. Don’t waste time and report late in church. That’s not sincerity! Be sincere to the time given.
If it was an appointment you have with a doctor you would have been there earlier. Your health matters to you but you don’t think about your soul. Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Teachers, and Pastors, make sure you are sincere to the church. If you know you are gathering funds to build, it should not turn to buy your car. If there has been any twist, let the church know of it before using the money. The money doesn’t belong to you. Being the head doesn’t mean the church is yours. The church is not the property of any Minister. The church belongs to Jesus Christ. If you are sincere, you will not report late to church. Many Ministers go to church late but they want the church to report on time. What hypocrisy is this? Do what you preach and teach.

Lift up prayers for the grace to cultivate the habit of sincerity even in difficult times and to stick to the things you promise you will do in the name of Jesus Christ.
