WITHHOLDING NOTHING
David Abankwah
READ: 1 Timothy 6:18
Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.
-Matthew 5:42 | NKJV
God wants us to have His love, for God Himself, is love. Because we have got the word love twisted, we usually think we are loved when certain things are done for us. Someone can say if you love me abort the baby I have in your womb. How can someone who claims he loves you, ask you to lose a life so precious that nothing in the world can be exchanged for? Someone can say if you love me, then have sex with me to prove that you love me. Such nonsense! How can this be a prove of love if we are not yet married? Someone can say if you love me, then let’s do blood covenant so you will not leave me. How can perfect love have fear within it? Love is giving but giving rightly!
Love withholds nothing righteousness because one of the proofs of love is giving. A chronic selfish person is not yet perfect in love. We claim we love God like a man claims he loves a woman but when he impregnates her, he runs away. That’s what many believers are. They are hit runners. They claim they love God by going to church and when God does what is needful for them, then they stop serving Him. If we claim we love God we shouldn’t withhold anything righteousness from Him. What He had asked us to do, we should have obeyed. God loves us so much that while we were still sinners, His love for us grew to the point of death died for our salvation but why do we fret when things are not going on well for us?
Things don’t go on well for us when we serve God just because what He has asked us to do we don’t do them. We are told we should give and we will be given, pressed down blah blah. That is what many people know about giving. But what about our giving when it comes to lost souls? We claim we love God but we don’t give much attention to believers who are falling away. Why are you withholding your time from having a personal relationship with God. Even when God wants to talk to you, you are always busy. We hold things from God and still claim we love Him. We may have much to offer for the benefit of others especially the needy, but we withhold them.
We blame God for not responding to our prayers but we are selfish, wicked, and ungenerous. When someone asks from us, we think they like begging too much and they should get something to do, but we have not given them what they should do. Giving is part of Christianity. After you became a believer, how many word of God have you been able to share with people you know and those you don’t? You see you don’t even think about it, but you want God to bless you. God expects certain things from us as we also want things from Him. He wants us to bear good fruits of love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control for the benefaction of our souls.
