LOVING THOSE WHO LOVE US
David Abankwah
READ: Leviticus 19:18
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’
-Matthew 5:43 | NKJV
We often quote that the death of Jesus Christ has dealt with the law but many of us still obey the law. One the laws we obey is Leviticus 19:18 which says that: You shall not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord -Leviticus 19:18 NKJV. If we love those who love us and hate those who hate us, then we are still Old Testament worshippers. Those who have not crossed Jordan (boundary separating the law – Old Testament and Christianity – New Testament) cannot have eternal life. It is natural to love those who love us because it is sin that has first ruled over us for a very long time.
Because sin first ruled over us, we are accustomed to the desires of the flesh that operate us to pay evil for evil and not good for evil. For many Ministers who have not yet crossed Jordan, also teach us to pray against our enemies. Many teach us that we should serve God well for He will prepare a table before us in the presence of our enemies to shame them. If retaliation and bitterness are within your heart against your enemies, then you have not yet repented. Sometimes when you read the statuses of many women on social media, you will definitely know that they have not yet crossed Jordan. They are still Old Testament worshippers who love those who love them only.
For many women, they don’t even love those who love them. Everything you will ever do for them, they will always be ungrateful. Eve was never grateful and okay with the life Adam was living with her and had to succumb to the devil. Lust of the eyes, flesh, and pride of life, will always kill your love for God and man. As we love ourselves, we should also love others too. Love is precious to give. If you are given, do well to reciprocate it. It was because of love that God had to die for us and suffer for our sake. What are we doing to reciprocate His love? It was because of sins He died. To honour such a love, we must lay aside every weight of sin and cling to what is righteous.
What has someone done against you that you find it hard forgiving? Note that you have also offended someone before. Don’t act like you have not sinned before and stop being a hypocrite. It is by the Lord’s grace that you are saved from sin. Instead of condemning someone who has fallen in Christianity, do well to assist him or her to get on his or her feet. Love does not only seek for his own but that of others. What you want others to do for you, do likewise. We should be careful concerning the relationship we have with people. What we do for or against people, is what we will be judged on. There is no relationship without an offence and when it comes, find a place in your heart to let go.

Lift up prayers for the grace of God to reciprocate the love of God and the love of others in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
When a believer loves those who love him, there is no difference between him and a sinner.
