REWARD OF LOVE

For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

There is no work without its meted out wage and there is no resounding achievement without a reward. It is natural to be endeared towards those who hold you in high esteem. It is readily acceptable to be closer to those who are closer to you. It is normal to love those who love you. Because walking with God goes contrary to the things of the flesh, it is difficult to love those who are our enemies. It is difficult to bless those who curse us. It is difficult to do good to those who hate us. It is difficult to pray for those who spitefully use us and persecute us. That is why many Ministers after going through the teachings of Jesus Christ, have finally declared that it is grace that will save us and not works.
Meaning, God will consider us and let us into New Jerusalem without looking at our righteousness. Many have termed Christianity as a religion of difficulty looking at the laws laid down by the leader. Christianity is not a religion. It is a nation. If we can follow the constitution in our various countries, why can’t we also follow the constitution of our dear nation which is Christianity? Some of the laws in our various nations are quite difficult, yet, we obey them. Because we know the rewards we will get for obeying the constitution in our nations, we also need to do same in Christianity. The reward God gives for those who love their enemies, is the power to become a child of God.
Without the power of the Holy Spirit, we cannot become children of God. We are physically born by physical parents but we have to be born again by God and this cannot be, if we have not made up our minds (repentance) to not only love those who love us, but also, those who hate us. The difference between children of God and children of Satan is love. Children of Satan love those who love and hate those who hate them, but children of God love those who love them and also love those who hate them. There is no reward for us as believers when we love those who love us because even sinners or children of Satan also do likewise. We should endeavour to obey the words of Jesus Christ.
He is our Lord and Saviour. What He says is what we must do. It was these teachings that when He was ascending into heaven, He told us to teach the nations. It is not enough to accept Jesus Christ into your life. It is not enough to speak in tongues. It is not enough to preach. It is not enough to cast out devils. It is not enough to sing in church or play instruments. It is not enough to go to church everyday. Without the will of God which is love, you and I cannot have eternal life. What is the use of a believer who does not have eternal life? It is high time we obeyed the commandment of loving those who are not only our lovers but those who are our enemies and we will be rewarded with eternal life for doing so.
