FOREKNOWLEDGE
David Abankwah
READ: Jeremiah 1:5

“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.
-Matthew 6:8 | NKJV

Jesus Christ warns us in Matthew 6:8 not to be like heathens who use vain repetitions during prayer time. Because many people don’t follow the divine prayer points fashioned out by our Lord and God Jesus Christ of Nazareth, they often don’t know what to pray about. They are forced to say prayer anyhow as they feel like. Some pray to kill their physical enemies instead of praying for them to have a change of mind. Today, intercessory prayers have turned into fatality prayers. Some pray about lot of things that concern only themselves and not the kingdom of God. If you want God to answer your prayers, pray for things that have bearing on the kingdom of God and not for your selfish interests.

As Jesus Christ finished what He taught us about vain repetitions, He moved on to say that, God knows what we would be praying about before we do. This brings us to a very important topic, known as FOREKNOWLEDGE. Foreknowledge is the previous knowledge of or to know something or someone beforehand especially by paranormal means or by revelation. We remember very well that, when God was calling Prophet Jeremiah, He told him He knew him even when he was not yet born. He had foreknowledge about who Jeremiah would be before it really happened. God has foreknowledge about all our life, Godliness, and ministry. He knows the end before the beginning.

God has foreknowledge about the elect. God also has foreknowledge about sons of perdition. He is aware of those who will be saved and those who will perish before the last judgement. If New Jerusalem was completed when Apostle John saw it, then God knows the number of those who will be there. If Jesus Christ says, I know my sheep and my sheep also know me, then, He has foreknowledge of all those who will be saved. So, for those of us who think we are doing the work of God in a way as helping God, should revise their notes. God has already chosen His people and you can’t save anyone outside that. Christianity is not about quantity and sin. It is about quality and holiness.

Having so many people in the church is not an achievement. How many of them are the elect? How many of them have stopped sinning? Going to church is not a license to eternal life. It is rather holiness. It is because of sin that Christianity has become a hard nut to break for most believers, that even their prayers are unheard. Whether or not you serve God, we need Him more than He needs us. If He knows our end before we were even born, then we have to walk in His ways and communicate with Him on our next moves through prayer. We can’t live our lives anyhow expecting Him to work a magic for us. Don’t also think God doesn’t know what you did before coming before Him in prayer.

Lift up prayers for the foreknowledge of God to see into the future things of your life, Godliness, and ministry in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
God is Omniscient because He has the foreknowledge of those who will be saved and those who will perish.
