THE MODEL PRAYER OF PROVISION

Give us this day our daily bread.

Jesus Christ is the Jehovah Jireh, because He is our God who provides us with everything we need according to His will. Jesus Christ is not only the Son of God but the LORD. That means, He owns everything, both material and immaterial things. Jesus Christ said in three places in the Bible: John 14:13; John 15:16; John 16:23, that whatever we request the Father to do in His name, He will do it. That doesn’t mean you can ask something in sin for God to do it. If God can answer your prayers, your prayers must be based on His will and God’s will doesn’t base on sin. We normally pray amiss because we don’t pray in the will of God concerning the things we need and want.
There are certain needs God provides for all men without they praying for them. Jesus Christ made mention of physiological needs such as what to eat, what to drink, what to wear, etc that we should not worry about such things because they will be provided, because, life itself is worth more than physiological needs. “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? -Matthew 6:25 NKJV. The reason God doesn’t want us to worry about physiological needs is that, He provides such things for sinners who don’t even pray for them.
The daily bread Jesus Christ said we should pray for is not physiological needs for the body, but for the soul. The Word of God is food or bread for the soul. We need to be fed daily otherwise we will die spiritually. Many people nourish their bodies but their souls are spiritually dead. When was the last time you prayed for me that the Word of God and its mystery can he written to you daily? You see you don’t even care about that? You enjoy reading but you don’t labour praying for me. If there is any food you should spend time eating, it should be the Word of God. Many people preach but when you pray daily for food for the soul, God will make a way for the Truth of His Word to be given.
There are many false ministers who present themselves as true, and the food they feed the sheep is malnourished. If you spend time praying for the right food for the soul, God can even expose your Shepherd and lead you to the right one. Man should not live by bread (physical) alone, but every word (spiritual bread for the soul) that proceeds from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4). Praying for the provision of a job, marriage, children, good health, long life etc is not a sin but the most important provision you and I need is the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13). When you have the Holy Spirit, everything you ever need and want, is in Him because He owns all things.
