THE TWO MASTERS

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
-Matthew 6:24 | NKJV
The two main masters in Matthew 6:24 are God and money. But why money and not Satan? Was Jesus Christ unaware that Satan was the bad guy? He knew Satan was the god of the world but He was also aware that the love of money was the root of all evil before Paul even wrote to Timothy about it in 1 Timothy 6:10. This is because Jesus Christ had foreknowledge concerning the things that were about to come before they came to pass. He was the One who gave the major and minor prophets in the Bible all their prophecies. Every master has servant(s) under him and this makes him a king and the servant(s) a domain or territory making what we know as a kingdom.
The reason Satan’s name is popular on the lips of all is that it was his name that came on board as someone who led the party that sought for democracy in heaven. It was this democracy from theocracy that led to their fall. He was the President of such a move and that was how he became a Master. This doesn’t mean he is stronger and powerful than all the fallen angels. Jesus Christ had to chain the most dangerous ones in darkness. The two Masters rule in two main kingdoms: the kingdom of darkness and the kingdom of light. The reason money is now the main man is that, every kingdom needs a stronghold as its foundation.
The Word of God is the foundation or the stronghold of the kingdom of light and the spirit of mammon or the finance minister, is the foundation or the stronghold of the kingdom of darkness. As the Son (the Word/Jesus Christ) of the kingdom of light is sitting at the right hand of the Power of the Father, so is the Son (mammon/money) of the kingdom of darkness, is also sitting as the right handed man of Satan. When Satan saw that God sent His Son to come and die and save us, he has also sent the spirit of mammon as his son to win souls for him. Now, it seems without money, you can’t do anything in the world, but that is not the case for Christians whose kingdom is light.
Money doesn’t rule Christians because they are living in this world but they are not of this world. There is difference between money ruling you and you using money. Being said, it is not money that is evil but the love for it, but the focal point of life must be WORD-CENTRED and not MONEY-CONSCIOUS. Even money is the product of the Word of God (Matthew 6:33). In the beginning, God didn’t use money to create the universe; He used the Word to create. If something is more important than money, it should be the Word of God. He is the Master we have to submit our lives to and serve Him with everything we have. If the Word abides in us and we live by Him, money wouldn’t be a Master to be served at all.
