THE SOLOMONIC ARRAY
David Abankwah
And yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
-Matthew 6:29 | NKJV
To array in the context of Matthew 6:29, means: to dress or decorate especially in splendid or impressive attire. When God was talking to the disciples and others who were present not to worry about the needs of life, He went on to compare the appearance of lilies to the appearance of Solomon – the richest king ever. God was letting us know the importance of putting our trust in Him for His daily providence. It we consider living things and their life processes as God told us to do in Matthew 6:28, we will understand that there is a God in heaven who controls everything. Many think the devil is the god of this world but Jesus Christ is the God of Satan and his fallen angels.
All authority belongs to Jesus Christ to control every living and non-living thing that live in heaven, on this earth, and under the earth. Jesus Christ is the One who owns the final sway. If you have given your life to the devil to control, that’s your problem but Jesus Christ is the God of all. He is God who is able to judge you and take your soul to hell and lake of fire. It is Him who created such a horrible place. Also, He cares about His children and provides them what they need. If Solomon as a rich man could provide for himself, his great host of women he married, took as concubines, and children they gave birth to, Jesus Christ is more than capable of arraying us with beautiful apparels.
If Solomon ever had wealth for providence, it was Jesus Christ who first provided him. God is not against beautiful apparels because He was the one who gave Solomon what he needed which included what he had to wear. He had gold, silver, and bronze to buy the garments he wanted as a king. His father David left him great wealth to build the temple and decorate it with gold. He also arrayed his household with the clothing of their choice – clothing for his 700 wives, 300 concubines and their respective children. Comparing the number of lilies in the world to the total number of Solomon’s household, Jesus Christ (God) has a greater responsibility of providence than Solomon.
If Solomon never lacked the wealth to array the temple, himself, and his entire household with beautiful apparels, then God is capable and more than able to do more. Clothing of beautiful apparels is not sin at all. In fact, God wants to see His children not in tattered garments because He is the Father of greatest wealth. Many believers have nice clothing, but instead of them arraying themselves in such to church, they reserve those garments for work, school, and other occasions which has nothing to do with God. When you are going to someone important, you give your best shot but many believers think God is not that important for such beautiful appearances.
•| Prayer Diary |•
If King Solomon being the richest king ever, didn’t make expenses on certain things, lift up prayers for the wisdom to spend and make investments when needed in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
Jesus Christ is the One who gave Solomon all the riches he needed, yet, He gave Him wisdom to spend and to invest. Without wisdom, money controls the handler.
