THE IMPERISHABLE GARMENT
David Abankwah
Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
-Matthew 6:30 | NKJV
The garments God clothes the grass of the field with, are perishable – thus existing today and tomorrow thrown into the oven as said in Matthew 6:30, but there is a garment God wants our attention to be focused on. This garment is incorruptible and imperishable. When God comes the second time, it is this garment that will separate the boys from the men. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory”
-I Cor 15:53-54 | NKJV.
Entering into the most beautiful place God has ever created thus New Jerusalem, it cannot host people eternally with perishable garments. Every occasion has its dressing code. The garment that is used for funerals is not the same as the garment used for weddings. The dressing code for office work is not the same as the dressing code for farming. That is what Christianity is and that is what New Jerusalem is. No dress of corruptibility can be allowed into the city unless the garment of incorruptibility. This garment is the one that the soul is clothed by. The flesh (corruptible body) demands temporal clothing while the soul (incorruptible body) demands eternal clothing.
Our focus as believers should not be the worry of perishable clothing that when we have, will perish some day. You will bear with me that there was a certain dress you used to like wearing, but now it is no more. It has perished. The garment Jesus Christ clothed us in the Garden of Eden before the fall was the imperishable garment but when we sinned, we were stripped of such imperfection. The state of how you dress depicts your level of righteousness. After the fall, man became naked. That will be for those who will perish in the lake of fire having not the garment of incorruptibility. If you don’t want that to happen to you, then you have to accept Jesus Christ into your life.
The garment that when you put on the soul will never perish or will never corrupt is Jesus Christ. Life is in Jesus Christ. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ HAVE PUT ON CHRIST -Galatians 3:27 | NKJV. But PUT ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts -Romans 13:14 | NKJV. If we put Him on, we have crossed from eternal death to eternal life; from corruptibility to incorruptibility, perishable to imperishable. Your faith in Jesus Christ and your works of holiness, and is what can maintain such an imperishable clothing. If you don’t know Jesus Christ, you are wasting your time shopping for clothing your soul doesn’t even need.
•| Prayer Diary |•
Lift up prayers for continual undeniable faith in Jesus Christ and the strength to work out holiness so the imperishable clothing can be maintained on your soul in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
Jesus Christ is the garment of righteousness of the soul that knows no corruption.
