THE DAY’S SUFFICIENCY

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Jesus Christ saying we should not worry about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about its own things doesn’t mean we don’t have to plan for tomorrow or our future. Many believers are so careless about their tomorrows that they squander resources, opportunities, and second chances thinking they will get them again. Many believers are also so lazy and have negative work ethics. They just don’t want to do any hard work. They think God is ever descending down to give them what they need. If you are lazy towards your secular work, how can you be diligent in the affairs of ministry? God is a hardworking God that is why He is able to provide for all our needs.
God gives us many opportunities in life that may not turn out to be in our favour. Maybe what you learnt in school is not the same profession that you will work in. Even when we are about to go to school believers don’t even ask God the course or programme they should read. They say ‘God first’ in anything but they don’t practise as such. When they are not having jobs, they blame whoever they can. The pressures of today, make them venture into businesses that God has not even approved and when they hit the dead end where the needs of life are not met, they dive into all kinds of social vices and evil jobs just to make it in life. You can’t put God aside and think you can be sufficient.
If you are a believer, don’t just stay in that stage, move on to be a Christian. It is Christians who think every situation is normal for them. Even in the midst of their hard work, they still have faith in God for His providence. They are content with the income they have. When business is quite bad today, they don’t bypass God to seek after other gods for help. They don’t envy, hate or jealous of their next neighbour’s prospering transactions. They know what they have for working the best they can, is given to them by God. But that is not the case for sinners and some believers. They will do everything evil in their power to suppress their neighbour so their businesses can thrive.
What at all do you need in this life? If every money is given to you, what at all can you do with it? Be content with the day’s providence for it is God who provided it. There are good days and bad days. Things are not going to be the same every now and then. Sometimes, you won’t eat three square meals a day with snacks in between. You can lose your job and you will not be able to provide for your family as a breadwinner. Yet, the day must be sufficient for you because at least you have life. When there is life, there is hope. Sometimes we have to go to God in prayer concerning things that are turning out bad. Sometimes such events are the works of the devil.

Lift up prayers for contentment concerning the divine providence for the day so you can be sufficient in all areas of your life in the name of Jesus Christ.
