ASKING, SEEKING, AND KNOCKING
David Abankwah
READ: 1 John 3:22

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
-Matthew 7:7 | NKJV

The world is ruled by the principle called repetition. We repeat the habit of cleaning our bodies, clothes, shelter, workplace and what have you. We repeat the habit of feeding our bodies with physical food and our souls with spiritual food called the Word of God. We repeat the habit of working to get what we need and want so we don’t become a burden to our family and we can also help those who are in need. We don’t say we are tired of these routine things which are done repeatedly because we know the benefit we will derive from them. If you know what you will derive from the habit of asking, seeking, and knocking for the things you need from God, you will never relent and you will never stop.

The fact that we also have to keep asking, seeking, and knocking doesn’t mean that, we can ask, seek or knock for anything. Matthew 7:7 has become an abused quotation for many people. They always quote it when they pray. You want God to help you but when He calls you for His work, you turn your back on Him. Besides, it is not any prayer that God even bothers Himself hearing. You are living in sin, yet, you have the gut to stand before the Almighty God – Jesus Christ, and ask Him for what you need and want. Why don’t you pray to Satan for him to answer your prayers because he is your Master? You work for Satan and yet, ask for your wages from God. How strange this is.

Asking, seeking, and knocking are the three stages of Christian faith walk that leads to eternal life. It is not ONLY prayer for material needs. If Jesus Christ called us for material needs, then we are the most miserable people on earth. Sinners have nothing to do with Jesus Christ, and yet, they prosper. It is because of eternal life that we were called. As we are called into the kingdom of light, we have to accept the call by believing and confessing Jesus Christ as our only God and Lord. That is when the mouth (asking part) becomes relevant. After that we have to seek for a church that Jesus Christ shows us because many denominations are gathering of dead people (Proverbs 21:16).

The seeking part has to do with preparation towards righteousness. You have to seek for the right water baptism that has to be immersion in a river and not a pool in the name of Jesus Christ ONCE and not THREE TIMES. You must be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ and not God the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is the right baptism that will lead you into the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the baptism of persecution (fire). After all the seeking part is done, the knocking part is when you have to be taught the right teachings for you to live in righteousness, holiness, and sanctification till the end of your life so the gates of eternal life can be opened to you.

Lift up prayers for the grace to live according to the right asking, seeking and knocking of the Christian faith and works so you can have eternal life in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
You ask by confession, you seek by finding the Holy Spirit, and you knock by holiness
