I NEVER KNEW YOU
David Abankwah
READ: 2 Timothy 2:19

And then I will declare to them, ‘I NEVER KNEW YOU; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
-Matthew 7:23 | NKJV

It is a mystery indeed for someone to preach and teach but God will say to him in the day of judgement that He never knew him. It is a mystery indeed for someone who did signs and wonders with the name of Jesus Christ, just to be surprised in the day of judgement that he was never known by God. It is indeed for someone who devoted his or her time going to church everyday, but to be said to, that he was never known by God. It is also a great mystery for someone who used to evangelise and win souls for God just to be said to, in the day of judgement that he was never known by God. How can someone do acts of service for God in the church, and God never knew him?

Jesus Christ knowing all these surprises had hinted us concerning something crucial about Him. He is not interested in your preaching or teaching. He is not interested in your acts of service in the church. He is not interested in your evangelism and soul winning. He is not interested in your attendance to church everyday. He is not interested in your giving of fat tithes and offerings towards the work of God. What God is interested in is your righteousness, holiness, and sanctification. Righteousness, holiness, and sanctification is what can make God know you. This is because, the eyes of God cannot even see evil and look at sin (Habakkuk 1:13), how much more knowing someone who does it?

We normally use Isaiah 59:1 to pray for forgiveness but it tells us that as God is holy so we must also be. When you commit sin, it hides the face of God from you, and when you commit iniquity too, it separates God from you (Isaiah 59:2). Knowing someone, is having a personal relationship with the person. You can also know someone MUCH when you stay with the person under the same roof. So when you are dating or courting someone and you think you can study the person, you are lying. Until you stay with the person under the same roof, you can never know who the person is. Many people pretend as if they love you, but when you stay with them, you will experience your biggest shock.

That is why many people marry and divorce because they have been deceived by what they experienced when they were dating or courting. Likewise, you can also know God well when you stay with Him under the same roof. Staying under the same roof is allowing Him to stay in you through the fellowship of His Holy Spirit. The roof is your body because it is His temple. And this can only be if you stay away from sin. If we have any better thing doing as believers, it must be staying away from sin so we can carry the presence of God in us for us to live in holiness. God only knows us if we have His Holy Spirit living in us. It is His Spirit, that can make us known to Him as children.
