WOMEN IN MINISTRY
David Abankwah
READ: Galatians 3:26-29; Titus 2:3-4
¹¹Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. ¹²And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. ¹³For Adam was formed first, then Eve. ¹⁴And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.
-1 Timothy 2:11-14 | NKJV
There is this argument going on in many churches where there is a school of thought that, women should not be allowed to preach, teach or do the work of God because Apostle Paul made a case about it emphatically in 1 Timothy 2:11-12 and 1 Corinthians 14:34-36. So, in this case, many have stood on this word and have stopped many ladies from their tracks of ministry. One thing I want to stress on is that Christianity is not about carnality but spirituality, because God is a Spirit and anyone who serves Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24). The Word of God is a two-edged sword. One thing we need to note is that, the Bible has a say about two things at the same time (Hebrews 4:12).
So, if you take one side of it alone, you will deviate. You will notice that Paul said that, women must not engage in ministry in 1 Timothy and 1 Corinthians, but this same Paul said that, women and men are the same in Christ, suggesting that, the ministry men do, women can do same because we are all one in Christ Jesus (Galatians 3:26-29). There is no discrimination whatsoever in Christianity concerning a slave, master, Jew, Gentile, woman or man. For your information, men are not the only teachers in our various schools. Many who argue that women should not preach were once taught by women in school. Many women led many men to Christ so will God condemn such people because the preacher was a woman?
If truly Paul insists that women should still remain quiet and not partake in ministry, then Apostle Paul needs to be questioned with the prophecy of God in Joel 2:28-29, the prophecy of Jesus Christ concerning the Holy Spirit in Acts 1:4 and the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20. Let us ask of the gender of the Holy Spirit. Because Jesus Christ as a God came as a man, the Holy Spirit is also a man. So, if He stays in a woman, she is no longer a female but a child of God (Romans 8:14). To be led by a spirit means to be inhabited. The spirit that controls you, lives in you. And after that, the Holy Spirit does not only live in men but in women, using them to accomplish the Great Commission.
When Jesus Christ was giving the instruction of the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20, men were not only present there. Many women like Beersheba, Esther, Priscilla, Susanna, Mary Magdalene all preached and taught and some of their words are in the Bible for reference. For Apollos who was a law learned person to be perfect in God’s word, a woman with the name of Priscilla taught him the Word of God (Acts 18:26). For Paul’s ministry to be successful, some women helped him (Philippians 4:1-4). If you don’t know, the same Bible allows women to teach in Titus 2:3-4.

Lift up prayers to be delivered from the spirit of womanhood that prevents you from reaching the heights of ministry in the name of Jesus Christ.
