CHRISTIAN HEAD COVERING
David Abankwah
SERIES: Day 3

But I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ, the head of woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.
-I Corinthians 11:3 | NKJV

The hierarchy is set right in the church as Apostle Paul entreated us in 1 Corinthians 11:3: the head of every female is a male figure; the head of every male is Jesus Christ and the head of Jesus Christ is God the Father. Because spiritual head covering is important, such states of leadership had to be set right for us to imitate. God is one in purpose but three in essence. The Trinity can be understood using marriage. Two people (two in essence) will become one flesh (one in purpose) and not two fleshes in marriage. There are three Persons in the Godhead. God the Father is God and not some virtual entity, the Son is God and not a man and the Holy Spirit is God and not a force.

Christian head covering is not only about the physical but spiritual. This tradition was instituted for us so we can acknowledge the Authorities God has ordained for us. The spiritual head covering of all the Persons of the Trinity is God the Father. You will see through the sayings of God the Son who was God, but manifested Himself in human form (1 Timothy 3:16) acknowledging the head covering of His life. He usually referred to God the Father as a head figure over His life. He didn’t only acknowledge the Father from birth and in ministry but after His resurrection. Jesus said to her…..‘I am ascending to MY FATHER and your Father, and to MY GOD and your God.’ ”
John 20:17 NKJV

He didn’t think He had been given a name above all other names, power in heaven, on earth, and under the earth, so He can no longer submit to the head figure of His life. That is the mistake many people do. When they become successful or blessed, they become arrogant and can no longer submit to authorities placed over them. Whether blessed or not, you still have to honour authorities placed over you. Many wives put on head coverings in church, but they don’t respect, honour, or submit to their husbands. Many women don’t really understand the head covering they have put on physically. They think it is for beautification purpose or a something they should do, but it a sign of practical life.

We didn’t physically see Jesus Christ putting on a veil to cover His head as a symbol of His submission to His Father, but through His words and actions, we have come to a realisation of His honest humility. He led a practical life of total submission from His birth to death, from womb to tomb, He obeyed the Father until He died on the cross. Every man has to learn from Jesus Christ. We have to submit ourselves under the authority of Jesus for Him to control our lives so we can also lead others and our family. Every woman whether married or not, also has to respect and honour every male figure. That is why unmarried women have to put on head coverings in the church too.

•| Prayer Diary |•
Lift up prayers for humility as a man to submit yourself under the authority of Jesus Christ and to submit yourself to every male figure as a woman in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
The head covering of the Trinity is God the Father; of every man is Jesus Christ, and of every female is a male figure.
