Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord.
I Corinthians 11:11 NKJV
One of the understanding of women covering their head in the presence of God, is that they are dependent on men and men not covering their head is also of the reason that they are dependent on women. What does 1 Corinthians 11:11 mean by dependent? The reason Paul stressed on dependency was the truth that, men who don’t cover their head thinks they are more superior than the women and for that case, many men don’t value the women as they ought to. But Apostle Paul wanted the men to know that, in the Lord, we are all one. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is NEITHER MALE NOR FEMALE; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise -Galatians 3:28-29 | NKJV. In Christ, we are all of one identity – Christians. No male or female one was ever saved because of the merit of gender. Apart from Jesus Christ having male disciples, He also had female disciples. It was peculiar in the ministry of Jesus Christ because hardly will a Rabbi ever have a female disciple. Even as a female, you won’t even get a place to sit with the men, how much more will you be a Rabbi’s disciple? But in Christ, grace has made us one people (Christians), there is no Jew or Gentile, no slave or Master, no woman or woman.
The blood that Jesus Christ used to redeem men is not different from women. The reward of eternal life that a woman will get is the same as a man. Jesus Christ made us one so dependency on one another will be easier. There is something Priscilla knew that Apollos didn’t know about Jesus Christ and she had to teach him. If Apollos thought he didn’t have to depend on a woman to teach him, he would not have learnt what he learnt. I am not teaching on gender equality because it is no where written in the Bible that men and women are the same. We are one in the Lord because of the purpose of dependency but the hierarchy still remains: the head of a woman is a man.
Jesus Christ wants godly men to have the mindset of dependency so they will respect and honour the godly women. Because of head covering that women put on in the church, many men in the church don’t respect such women. They think such women are old fashioned and they see them with contempt. Because of this, they don’t marry in the church but outside. They are more interested in women who don’t cover their head in the presence of God than women who do. Such depraved mind and they attribute that to civility. If it is not for pretence, a woman who dresses well (covering of her head), is more dependable than a woman who does not. Your identity depicts how you dress.

Lift up prayers for humility of submission to come to the level terms of those who are of low status and for dependency, so you can serve and be served in the name of Jesus Christ.
