LOVE DETERMINANTS
David Abankwah
(SERIES: Day 10)
does not rejoice in iniquity…..
-1 Corinthians 13:6 | NKJV
Iniquity and sin are immoral acts but they have different meaning. Sin is the transgression of the law of God but iniquity involves various actions of evil to cover up for one sin. To understand this very well, let me use this instance. Iniquity is committed, when a guy gives money to her girlfriend to abort her pregnancy after fornication. He has fornicated with her which is sin, but for him to cover up for this sin, he goes further to abort the baby so no one can know about it. An iniquity can also be an armed robber who steals, rapes the person and kill the person too. There are various iniquities committed in the Bible for our references. Don’t ever attempt iniquity!
A typical example of iniquity in the Bible was when King David slept with Bathsheba and when she was pregnant, David went on to kill Uriah, the husband, in the process, to cover up for his sin (2 Samuel 11:1-17). Even though God forgives sin and iniquity, the magnitude of the consequence of iniquity is greater than sin and it takes the righteousness God requires from the offender to neutralise his iniquities. Even if you willfully sin after knowing the truth and return to ask for forgiveness, God will not forgive you until He has punished you (Hebrews 10:26-27), then, what will be the outcome of those who commit iniquity? Sin is easily cleared but iniquity is a stain. It has to be washed.
Iniquity is not something you should ever think of doing and never in your life should you rejoice or support those who do it. If you have the love of God, you will surely reproof, correct, rebuke and instruct people when you see them engaging in the acts of iniquity. But what do we see now? Instead of Christian parents buying Bibles for their children to use in school, you see them buying condoms for them, just because they are afraid their children will have sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) when they engage in sex. You are not afraid of the lake of fire that your children will go but you are afraid of STDs. How pathetic! When you love your children, you will never rejoice when they commit iniquity.
Diving into such people’s lives, you will notice that these people are church leaders or those who call themselves ministers of God. You call yourself a Christian but you secretly advise your children to abort their pregnancies and thank God in church for making the operation a success. Aren’t you ashamed of yourself? You call evil good, and good evil and still claim everything is normal. When your daughter enters into marriage and becomes barren, then, you will see how stupid parent you have become. We don’t need to mourn when people die, but we have to mourn when iniquities are being committed. Sin can be easily forgiven but iniquity has to be dealt with by your own righteousness.
