LOVE DETERMINANTS

…..but rejoices in the truth;

Truth is not just a fact of something because Truth is a Person (John 14:6, 17). I was sitting in a car with someone and he got a call. He lied to the person that he was in a certain place he was not. I confronted him about the lie and he told me, ‘Oh it is a normal thing to lie. Today people don’t want to be told the truth unless you tell them a lie. If I told her I was far away, she would have pressured me with subsequent calls here and there. So, I had to lie to be safe.’ He then went on to tell me that, ‘for such small lies, God will not count it against us, because small sins will attract no judgement from God.’ Today, evil is easier to be called good and good is being looked upon with contempt.
I knew that my neighbour was in danger and I had to preach to him. I told him that there is no small sins and big sins. Every sin is a sin and God counts them against us if we commit them. When I finished, I saw him nodding his head for a while. I thought he had taken my advice but not long after that, he had another call from the same person. Instead of him telling the person the truth to show that he had repented, he lied again. I was so sorry for him because I knew in Revelation 21:8 that, liars will have their part in the lake of fire. I thought to myself that one day this guy would have a change of mind and heart, irrespective of the second chance he had to amend his ways in my presence.
Today technology has made sin easier to commit. Someone can be in country A and
he will be having sex with someone in country B. You can sit behind a computer and defraud people, lying to them in order to gain certain favours, money or gifts which in actual fact you would not have done if they were physically present with you. On Sundays, such people dress up, go to church and pretend they are Christians. Such people give fat offerings and tithing as a cover-up of their sinful lives. They think their act if goodness can remit their wrongs. Lying has become so common that, mobile phones have turned many believers into blatant liars. It has made the work of lying easier and faster.
You should mourn if you commit sin and nothing prompts you that what you are about to do or what you did some time ago, or what you are doing, is wrong. God warns us against lies and for our love we have for Him and people to be complete, we must do everything possible to speak the truth and live for it even when it will cost us our lives. What is so pathetic is that people hold Bibles, swear oaths to speak the truth but they still go on to tell lies in the court of law. Love without truth is like a house without a foundation. Amid a small shake, all the building will collapse in no time. When you love God and others, you will never lie to them. A frequently lying person is a child of Satan.

¹Lift up prayers for the strength to live for everything you have said you would do. ²Lift up prayers for the character to be faithful concerning every pledge, promises or oaths you have taken without failing them. ³Lift up prayers for the strength to be committed to the things you preach and teach about the Word of God. ⁴Lift up prayers for divine pride to speak the truth always without being ashamed of Him. ⁵Lift up prayers for the boldness, to tell the truth despite the troubles you may go through. ⁶Lift up prayers for transformation by the truth so you will not be conformed to the trend of deception or pretence of the world in the name of Jesus Christ.
