MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION
David Abankwah
(SERIES: Day 5)
Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the PROPHETS; let them hear them.
-Luke 16:29 | NKJV
After the death of Moses, God chose Joshua as the next minister of reconciliation. Even though he went to the promised land with just Caleb, the people he led, doubted God again. One key that can assess grace and unlock it, is faith. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him. -Hebrews 11:6 | KJV. Sin is what displeases God and if you lack faith, it is tantamount to sin. Faith is what will make one become devoted and loyal to God at all times. Faith is what will propel you to obey God. There are so many virtues in Christianity but faith makes you pleasing to God.
Your faith metre needs to be checked always, so you can escape the penalty of doubt, which is death. After Joshua, God began choosing Judges as ministers of reconciliation as His next line of work. They followed God as He led them through the art of ministry. They stood for the sheep and defended the course of the Gospel. Many Israelites who were indifferent towards the wave of God’s move of salvation and the work of the Judges, suffered severe consequences. The courage the Judges exhibited in hard times of life and ministry they went through, gave us glimpses of Christianity. After the Judges, God went on to appoint Kings as the next ministers of reconciliation.
He chose Saul as the first King of Israel. King Saul became the first King who became a Minister of reconciliation in Israel. Anointed by the Spirit of God, he prophesied as a king. Peace reigned between the people and God when he led the people well into righteousness until he became disobedient just like Moses. He spared the king of Amalekites, the best of their livestock and all that was good. But as a minister of reconciliation, God expected his obedience to Him rather than his sacrifice of fatty livestock. God then took the ministry from Him and gave it to King David as the next Minister of reconciliation. King David also did all he could as a Minister of reconciliation.
King Solomon took over as the next Minister of reconciliation and in succession, several kings were appointed by God until God chose Prophets as His next Ministers of reconciliation. They spoke the Gospel in boldness, made sure the people turn back to God from their sins and iniquities, stood for the Lord when all odds were against them and were not afraid to die for their ministry of reconciliation because they placed their hope in the One who chose them. They fearlessly paved the way for the Ultimate Mediator who was coming. For this major course, they prophesied the first coming of the True Messiah who would reconcile the people to God through His blood.

“As a Minister, don’t be a signboard. As you are busy reconciling or leading people to God, don’t forget to work out your own salvation too”
