MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION
David Abankwah
(SERIES: Day 7)

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.
-Matthew 5:9 | NKJV

For the New Dispensation Jesus Christ has founded, we are all called to be ministers of reconciliation but there are other people (Evangelists) who specially chosen and graced to carry out such work. To carry out the Great Commission, you first have to be born again and taught enough about the Gospel. No one can be a true Minister of reconciliation without first believing in the name of the Gospel, who is Jesus Christ. You have to believe that God raised Him from the dead. Next, you have to confess Him as your Lord and Personal Saviour (Romans 10:9-10). You don’t have to skip any, because they are all processes of becoming a Minister of reconciliation.

Next, you have to be baptized in water which fulfils two things: death to the Old dispensation and an initiation into the world of Christianity signifying your true repentance (John 3:5). For the washing and forgiveness of your past sins and iniquities, it is only the blood of Jesus Christ that can do that. This can only be done when Jesus Christ sees that your confession and your belief, are true and your repentance is genuine. Then, He can use His blood to cleanse you from your past. For your past iniquities, you have to live more righteous life to nullify them. Because the confessions and beliefs of many people are not genuine when they heed to the altar call, they are not saved.

Many people stand before the pulpit and give their lives to Jesus Christ because they were pushed to do so or probably, they were not ready. You will see these same people living sinful lifestyles which are even worse than what they used to do. You will ask yourself: ‘Are these the same people who gave their lives to Jesus last Sunday?’ Since you were once a member of the world, the kingdom of darkness will not cease pursuing you. Because many don’t know this, they think that once saved is forever saved. Without the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8), you can’t overcome temptations (Galatians 5:17-18). He helps in the infirmities of your ministry of reconciliation (Romans 8:26).

Because of the leadership of the Holy Spirit, you will become a child of God (Romans 8:14). The Holy Spirit comes and stays in the blood of Jesus Christ that has been used to cleanse your soul. That is why unbelievers can’t have the Holy Spirit. He stays in those who have repented and converted from their sins. The reason you are not having the Holy Spirit after many years of prayer is that you have not been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ from all your sins. Getting the Holy Spirit is not a matter of fasting and prayers in sin (even though we can pray for His coming in Luke 11:9-13) but a matter of fasting and prayers in righteousness first (John 9:31).

•| Prayer Diary |•
¹Lift up prayers for the spiritual and physical blessings as you reconcile lost souls and backsliders to God. ²Lift up intercessory prayers of ministerial consistency for your Shepherd and church leaders who have taken upon themselves to carry out the ministry of reconciliation in the name of Jesus Christ.
