HOW ARE THE MIGHTY FALLING?

Remember therefore from WHERE YOU HAVE FALLEN; REPENT and DO THE FIRST WORKS, or else I will come to you quickly and REMOVE YOUR LAMPSTAND from ITS PLACE—unless you repent.

One day, I was conversing with someone concerning her Christian life and she complained bitterly that she couldn’t do the things she used to do anymore. As a mighty Christian, she had completely forsaken the first love she had for the things of God. I also had a very powerful preacher who used to visit us in the house. He rightfully divided the Word of God but this powerful preacher had fallen. He became a drunkard, yet, he was still preaching. As he was confronted to stop, he told us that, there was no way he would accept our advice. Shortly after that, he died. When I heard it, I reasoned:
‘Such a mighty man had fallen.’ This grieved my heart and I was alarmed.
The reason I was alarmed was not because of his sudden death, but the contemplation whether he repented before his death. As you are busy going about your ministry, don’t overlook your secret sins. Don’t forget to work out your own salvation as you are busily working out the salvation of others. Your Pastor cannot be in your secret places always. Publicly, many Ministers or believers appear as Christians, but in their secret places, they watch pornographic materials, they are adulterers, champion fornicators, idolaters, drug-addicts, armed robbers, sorcerers, masturbators, heretics, selfish ambitious people, envious, lovers of the world more than God, and jealous
people.
Many believers are sick because of sin, but they are rather seeking for prosperity. There are many believers who don’t sin publicly for you to see, but they sin within themselves. They sin in their minds and hearts. The things they think about and what they plan in their hearts, are enough to take them to hell. When you preach like this, some perceive you are judging them. You are falling, brother! Wake up from your sleep sister! It is now time to repent. When you first became a believer, you were not like this. You will bear with me that, you are not living the righteous life you used to. The fact that you still speak in tongues, doesn’t mean that the Holy Spirit is in you. He must have left a long time.
Remember you used to go to church early. Now you are always late and you think it is cool. You have backslidden! If it was a flight you were going to catch, you would have gone there before time. When you check your prayer life, fasting times, the time you devote for Bible reading, zeal, and charisma for soul-winning have all diminished, but at first, it was not so. Mighty brethren, thou art fallen!!! Make time for the work you once did for the Lord and the righteous life you once lived. True repentance is the conversion from your sinful ways, now. Don’t wait till tomorrow because you will never know when you will die. Wake up from your slumber! Arise and shine for your light has come.

¹Lift up prayers for quick realisation of any signs of backsliding. ²Lift up prayers for the Holy Spirit to prompt you anytime sin approaches you. ³Lift up prayers for the strength to be active in your first love in the name of Jesus Christ.
