²⁷“You have heard that it was said to those of old, You shall not commit adultery.’ ²⁸But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.

Divorce is not permitted by God in Christian marriages but only based on the evidence of an extramarital affair. But even that, make sure that you don’t feel any lust for anyone otherwise you stand the risk of eternal damnation. The one who divorces his or her spouse without the evidence of adultery in the act, is seen by God as an adulterous person. Marriage is not a contract you can sign and terminate at any given time. So, when you are entering into marriage, you have to prepare very well. There are many believers who will go to hell just because of their marriages. If your marriage is taking you to hell, where will your children whom you will also account for their souls also be?
You can’t also marry and have another lover somewhere else. You can’t own a farm and have a backyard garden at the same time. That’s nonsense! There is another adultery that comes as a result of virtualization. Sexual fantasy is having sex with someone through imagination unrestricted by reality or feeling lust after someone who is not physically present with you. Pornography and sexual fantasy often lead to masturbation. Evil thoughts make you a sinner. What you think, is who you are. God expects our minds to be focused on things that concern Him (Philippians 4:8; Colossians 3:1-2) and not things that will defile our souls. Our mind health matters to God.
A sexual fantasy beyond the boundaries of marriage, is a sin no mortal can perceive except the doer. It is very dangerous because no one can notice and advise you to stop it. Sexual fantasy is one of the hidden sins many believers find themselves doing. They may not admit it, but it is going on. There are believers who go to church and still lust after other church members even when sermon is ongoing. Amid church services, there are people who even watch pornography because of addiction. God is not served through carnality but spiritually through the mind and heart. These organs are to be checked so the sin of sexually immoral fantasy will not easily beset you.
There are many damaging implications of adultery of which some of them are listed below. Adultery brings about death (Leviticus 20:10). Adulterous people are crazy and only destroy themselves (Proverbs 6:32). Adultery brings about land pollution (Jeremiah 3:9). Adultery brings about the judgement of God’s wrath and jealousy (Ezekiel 16:48). Adultery brings about disgrace, shame, and humiliation (Hosea 2:2). Adultery brings about divine punishment (Hosea 4:14). Adulterous people are cursed! (2 Peter 2:14). Adultery brings about diseases and great tribulations (Revelation 2:22). Adultery is a sin that will block one from going to New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:8).
