Incest

Today we will be talking about incest. Incest is the sexual intercourse between persons so closely related that they are forbidden by law to marry. God forbids us to marry any relative of ours. But one will ask, is it not this same God who allowed people in OT to practise incest in the Bible? In the beginning, God created two people, thus: Adam and Eve. They gave birth to sons and daughters and these people, in turn, procreated until the tablet of nations, tongues, families, and tribes were all completed to the plan of God. I don’t see anywhere in the Bible that God told someone to practise incest. If you are into incest already, don’t find any excuse as to why you engage in that.
When God finished bringing the table of nations (Genesis 10:1-32) into existence through the loins of men and women, then God had to bring in the law of incest abstinence (Leviticus 18:6-18) that would guide their sexual lives and the generations to come. So, if their forefathers weren’t aware, God has now told them and now we also know. For the Bible says that we are pardoned or our former sins are overlooked when we were ignorant concerning the sins we once did but after we have come to the knowledge of this truth, God commands us all to repent from sin which incest is inclusive (Acts 17:30). So, you can’t question God that, at first incest was not sin but now, why is it a sin?
At first, looking at someone lustfully was not adultery in the Old Testament, but in the New Testament now, it is a sin. What will you say about that one too (Matthew 5:28)? It is now sexual immorality to engage in incest. It is not through incest that can make you fill the whole world with people (Genesis 1:28). Today instead of a parent teaching the good way his or her children should go, he or she rather teaches them the sexual immorality way they need to go. Today there is no respect for the elderly because when you have sex with someone older than you, you lose the respect you need to have been given. Likewise, you lose your value when you engage in incest.
Incest is an abomination in the first place and certain curses are associated with it. Incest brings about defilement (Leviticus18:24-25). Incest brings dishonour (Leviticus 18:10). Incest brings about wickedness (Leviticus 18:17). If certain paternity tests were to be done, many fathers would have been responsible for the birth of certain children that were born as a result of the affair they had with their own daughters. In this case, when you ask this daughter, who is the man responsible for the pregnancy? She can’t tell because she has been threatened by her own father not to say a word. You shouldn’t allow lust to have control over you to practice incest which is a detestable thing to God.
