BEAUTY OR SPIRITUALITY?
David Abankwah
READ: 1 Corinthians 7

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
-Proverbs 31:30 | NKJV

God has inspired many authors of the Bible to pen down many important facts about marriage that we need to appreciate. Today, the foundation on which many young men and ladies base on most times to marry is either money, fame, position, beauty, properties, and other funny reasons. Today many of those who went in marriage with these funny reasons have divorced. The best-case scenario of such marriages is that, they are experiencing hell from their various spouses. No condition is ever permanent. Do you think the person you married some years ago, is going to be the same person as the years go by? Certainly not!

The physical splendour of your partner will lose because it is earthly and sensual. The curse of degeneration God invoked upon the earth because of man, has taken effect in the life of man and everything he has. Everything man has which is physical is subject to corruptibility. Therefore, before one can enter into marriage, one must not be mindful of physical things, but rather, look into the spiritual aspect of the person which is incorruptible. Every character is spiritual. It springs from the inner man which is the soul. Because many people don’t pay attention to the spiritual aspect of their to-be partners, they marry and meet surprises which rips the marriage apart.

One aspect you have to consider more important above beauty is the person’s character, spirituality, and integrity. If you compare the person’s handsomeness to his character, integrity, spirituality – as the most key things in marriage and find out that he is very low comparatively, then know that you are in deep mess! Know that the person’s handsomeness or beauty is going to fade but spirituality, character and integrity live on! These characters keep their lustre as time passes. They never rust and they never fade. They never lose their shape and they never crumble. When they are beaten against by situations in marriage, they keep their durability in place.

If you ever have to choose beauty and spirituality, I, David Abankwah will urge you to choose spirituality rather than spirituality even though beauty is also important. God instituted marriage and He is the best position to know who is the right person for you. Today many people date and court with the intention of knowing more about the person. Many even have sex when they are not married. What has sex has to do with knowing someone? Because many are filled with lust and infatuation, they think they are in love. Many Pastors have married witches and wizards just because of how carnal they were before their marriages. Many were concerned about beauty more than spirituality!

•| Prayer Diary |•
¹Lift up prayers for the eyes to look beyond physicality when choosing people or designating them into positions. ²Lift up prayers for immunity against any physical and spiritual charms that deceive you in life and in ministry. ³Lift up prayers to acknowledge the efforts of people who fear the Lord so you don’t take them for granted in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
“Beauty fades but the character doesn’t. It is better to marry the latter than the former”
