WALKING IN THE SPIRIT
David Abankwah
READ: 2 Corinthians 10:13

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
-Galatians 5:16 | NKJV

The Bible has been parted into two: The Old dispensation which is the carnal era and the New Dispensation which is the Spiritual era. Because the people of the Old dispensation walked in the flesh, all of them sinned and fell short of the glory of God as Romans 3:23 confirms. No one was able to live in the fullness of righteousness. Some people like Enoch, Noah, Job, and the Prophets, tried to walk in the fullness of the Spirit but they couldn’t. This is because the Father of righteousness who is Jesus Christ had not yet come. Blood of animals was not enough to cleanse them from the power of carnality which leads to sin.

There are things we need to note. God the Father is a Spiritual person (John 4:24), that is why no carnal person can see His face and live. The Word who is Jesus Christ is also a Spiritual person (John 6:63), that is why He was able to live in this sinful world for 33 years without committing any sin. The Holy Spirit is also a spiritual person, that is why He only lives in people who are spiritual (John 14:17). Moreover, flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 15:50). This makes walking in the Spirit so crucial for believers. One will ask, how can I walk in the Spirit?

Walking in the Spirit demands a lot of SACRIFICES. You have to sacrifice the things of the flesh to live in the Spirit. The flesh demands food, but at times you have to deny it and fast. The flesh demands sleep, but you have to deny it so you can wake up in the night and pray. Sometimes the flesh feels like staying at home, but you have to sacrifice your rest and go to church. Your flesh wants to be entertained with carnal movies but you have to deny it and watch anointed sermons. Your flesh wants to stay out of trouble but you have to risk it to evangelise and win souls.

Walking in the Spirit is all about ACTIVITIES. If an occultist wants to be more spiritual, he engages in so many activities to attain the height of the highest rank. This activity often demands blood. Likewise, if you want to be more spiritual, God wants you to devote your mind, heart, strength, and everything you have for Him. That is the blood He also requires. And this cannot be achieved if you don’t read the Bible that contains spiritual words (John 6:63). The more you read the Bible and practise it, the more spiritual you will become definitely. Also note that the more you walk in the Spirit, the more temptations you will face.
