HATRED
David Abankwah
READ: 2 Samuel 13:1-15
¹⁸“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. ¹⁹If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
-John 15:18-19 | NKJV
The Scripture in John 15:18-19 does not apply to any believer. There are some believers who are noted for having the sin of hatred in them. When people are progressing in life and ministry, it worries them. Discontentment, greed, jealousy, envy, bitterness, offences, grudges, and all that are what build up hatred in people. Search within yourself and stop pretending you love someone when you know you hate him or her. God detests people who are hypocrites. You know you didn’t like the message your Pastor preached but after the service, you boldly declared: ‘Pastor that was a very good message, you know. It was very timely. You really dialled our numbers.’
A kindergarten teacher had decided to let her class play a game. The teacher told each child in the class to bring along a plastic bag containing a few potatoes. Each potato will be given the name of a person that the child hates. So, the number of potatoes that a child will put in his/her plastic bag will depend on the number of people he/she hates. So, when the day came, every child brought some potatoes with the name of the people he/she hated. Some had 2 potatoes, some had 3 while some also had 5 potatoes. The teacher then told the children to carry the potatoes in the plastic bag with them wherever they go for 1 week.
Days after days passed, and the children started to complain due to the unpleasant smell let out by the rotten potatoes. Besides, those having 5 potatoes also had to carry heavier bags. After 1 week, the children were relieved because the game had finally ended. The teacher asked: ‘How did you feel while carrying the potatoes with you for 1 week?’ The children let out their frustrations and started complaining of the trouble that they had to go through carrying the heavy and smelly potatoes wherever they went. Then the teacher told them the hidden meaning behind the game. The teacher said: ‘This is exactly the situation when you carry your hatred for somebody inside your heart.’
The stench of hatred will contaminate your heart and you will carry it with you wherever you go. If you cannot tolerate the smell of rotten potatoes for just 1 week, can you imagine what is it like to have the stench of hatred in your heart for your lifetime?’ Throw away every hatred
you have for people from your heart so you will not carry the burden of hatred for a lifetime. Forgiving others is the best attitude to take. Your hatred for someone will not revert the success the person has. Instead of hatred, replace it with love. If not, this sin of hatred you can’t stop committing is enough to take you down to the lake of fire.

¹Lift up prayers to deal with every trait of hatred you develop for people especially the success of others. ²Lift up prayers for God to deliver you from the demon of hatred in the name of Jesus Christ.

“Hatred is like a disease which has no sign or symptom, yet it takes people to the grave more often than we can possibly imagine”
