BENEFITS OF PRAYER
David Abankwah
READ: Mark 14:38
Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Luke 21:36 NKJV
Prayer is one of the obligatory duties of a Christian. You can’t opt to pray or you can’t choose to pray anytime you feel like but you MUST pray every day. 1. The first thing prayer does is that it fulfils one of the duties of righteousness. When Jesus Christ was about to be baptised in the River Jordan, He told John the Baptist to baptise Him because it was a key thing to fulfil all righteousness. Many people don’t know they have sinned when they don’t pray. The one who knows the right thing and does not, to him it is sin (James 4:17). No believer doesn’t know that he or she shouldn’t pray but because of the excuses of laziness and busyness, many exempt themselves from personal prayers.
- Prayer delivers the prayerful from temptations (Matthew 26:41). 3. Prayer delivers the prayerful from evil (Matthew 6:13). 4. Prayer enforces the will of God to be done in the life of the prayerful (Matthew 6:10). 5. Prayer enhances a good relationship between the prayerful and God through such a healthy communication. 6. Prayer facilitates the expansion of the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:10). 7. Prayer based on repentance, brings about forgiveness of sins. 8. Prayer makes the prayerful obtain the necessities of life available for the taking (Matthew 6:11). 9. Through thanksgiving prayer, God is glorified (Mathew 6:9).
- Prayers bring about deliverance (Genesis 32:11).
- Prayer reveals the real identity of people (Genesis 32:29). If you want to know someone very well, pray about the person and God will reveal the person’s secret things to you beyond the person’s physicality. This goes for singles who are about to get married. 12. Prayer makes the ways of God more evidential and clearer (Genesis 33:13). 13. Prayer enhances the fellowship you have with God (Exodus 34:9). 14. Prayer brings about healing (Numbers 12:13). 15. When prayers are lifted, the power of God is magnified. 16. Through a repentant prayer, the iniquity of sinners can be pardoned (Numbers 14:19). Prayer enables the future to be more feasible and helps overcome situations with ease (Deuteronomy 3:25).
- Prayer overturn the tables of decisions that are not the will of God (2 Samuel 15:31) 18. Prayer brings about strengthening (Judges 16:28). 19. To understand the truth of God’s Word, prayer must be raised first (1 Kings 8:26). 20. Prayer brings about restoration (1 Kings 13:6). 21. Prayer brings about revival (1 Kings 17:21). 22. Prayer opens your spiritual eyes to see very far into the supernatural (2 Kings 6:17). 23. Before one can have salvation, prayer must first be raised (2 Kings 19:19). 24. Prayer enhances divine remembrance (2 Kings 20:3). The perfect will of God can be changed into permissive one unless a prayer with a background of holiness is lifted (2 Kings 20:3).
