PERTURBATION
David Abankwah
READ: Luke 12:29-31

Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
-Matthew 6:25 | NKJV

Perturbation is the state of worry or upsetness. Perturbation makes one think about problems or fears which in turn becomes evidential to all. Many people become perturbed when something bad happens or can happen to them or others. Jesus Christ talked about perturbation in Matthew 6:25, when He said that, we shouldn’t worry about our physiological needs: Food, clothing and shelter. Yet, many believers are not heedful to this commandment at all. They are heedful to others and not this. Because of worry, the Word of God is fruitless in many believers because they are choked with riches, cares, and pleasures of this life (Luke 8:14) other than their spiritual lives.

We have to obey the words of Jesus Christ, and have faith in Him that He is Lord concerning the things we are worrying about. Many people think they can have eternal life by obeying only the Mosaic laws. You honour Moses but you dishonour Jesus Christ, not knowing that Moses was preparing the way for His Lord Jesus Christ! If you disobey even one commandment of Jesus Christ, you will not have eternal life. If Jesus Christ says do not worry about your needs, just obey and flow. It is not your worry that is going to provide the things you need in life. Many forget that God is the One who created all things. He first created our needs and wants before creating us.

He knew we would need those things, that was why He created them. What we have to do is that, if we need something, we have to lift up prayers of supplication onto God. He is the Jehovah Jireh the Lord our Provider. Such faith in God has now diminished. In this case, you will see a young lady who call herself a Christian amassing ten boyfriends at a time. She denotes one to be Mr Provider of food; another to be Mr Provider of clothing; another to be Mr Provider of shelter; another to be Mr Provider of bills; another to be Mr Provider of money, and what have you. Her salary is found in the pockets of her boyfriends and not the provision of the Lord of her boyfriends.

This same person can hold a microphone and sing in church as if she is an angel. Today many believers are not afraid of God. Instead of worrying about how they can seek after the kingdom of God and His righteousness first, they worry about such things which should be added if they do the former. There is one need every believer should ask, seek and knock for; that is the Holy Spirit (Luke 11:13) after having faith in Jesus Christ our Lord. When you have Him, He blesses you spiritually and physically (Matthew 6:33). He is your Comforter in times of perturbation. He is the joy that comes in the morning when weeping had endured for a night (Psalms 30:5).

•| Prayer Diary |•
¹Lift up prayers to be overly concerned about the Word of God more than the worry of physical food. ²Lift up prayers to be constantly reminded about the status of the spiritual garment of your soul more than the worry of physical clothing. ³Lift up prayers to be filled with the living waters of life that the Holy Spirit provides as you thirst for His presence and power in the name of Jesus Christ.
