FRAIL
David Abankwah
READ: Hebrews 12:12-13
Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
-Romans 8:26 | NKJV
To walk with God, you have to accept that you are frail or weak so as a stronger God, He can help you overcome that shortcoming. Sometimes the things that you have to do in order to be stronger, often become more difficult as you try harder to achieve. Many believers think they don’t need divine assistance in their walk of faith. You need the Spirit of God to help your frail soul to maintain your height of holiness. What you have to do is to repent and convert from the actions of sin (Acts 3:19), so He can deliver you from the nature of sin. Day in and day out, you have to seek the righteousness who is Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God who is the Holy Spirit (Matthew 6:33).
There was one time I had a dream about the level of Christianity I was. I saw myself walking in the footsteps of someone who was leading me to a certain place. I followed Him until He climbed a very tall building to the top. As I advanced toward the building, I saw staircases which I needed to climb them to catch up with the man who was leading me. I began the move on these steps, but the higher I went, the more I found it difficult to climb. I thought He would turn back and help me out but He didn’t. I had to do it myself because salvation is individualism. I advanced to the middle of the house and I saw two wild dogs (family symbol) waiting to rip my flesh out.
Instead of facing them, I thought I was wiser to escape them, not knowing, I was getting out of the way of my salvation. As I tried to escape, I fell from where I was to the ground. Then I heard a voice that told me: ‘You have to start over again.’ As I was too disappointed in myself for being weaker to overcome them, I remembered that I was living in sin and I had to work it out and overcome that. What makes us frail in our walk of faith is that our souls without the Spirit of God, cannot overcome sin, iniquity and abomination emanating from our evil families. Spirits are stronger in the realms of the spirit than souls and it is these evil spirits our souls are wrestling against (Ephesians 6:12).
The Spirit of God is the One who will help us work out our own salvation with fear and trembling (Philippians 2:12-13). He is also the One who can help us in the weaknesses of our walk of faith (Romans 8:26). But before He can come, He makes sure there is no sin in the dweller. Since His name is holy, so is His character. He only lives in the blood of Jesus Christ that has cleansed you from all sins (1 John 1:9). If He stays in you, your self-will ceases because His will overrides yours (Romans 8:14). Your Christianity becomes easier like the flow of living waters (John 7:38). Then you can testify that ‘I have tasted the Lord and know that He is good (1 Peter 2:3).’
