SEED-SOWING
David Abankwah
READ: Matthew 13:24-30

But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.
-2 Corinthians 9:6 | NKJV

Life, Godliness and ministry are all about seed sowing. Before God created the universe, He sowed the seed of time. Before creation, God was living in an unlimited time called eternity, thus He existed yesterday (before creation), today (after creation and present till the universe will be destroyed) and forever (an eternity in New Jerusalem). The Scripture makes it clear in Psalms 90:2 that from eternity to eternity, He was God. Before creation, God’s faithfulness was ready for His seeds of love. God knew He had to plant those who would fear Him as seeds so their descendants who are their fruits would benefit from the righteousness of God (Psalms 103:17).

When God’s timing was due, He knew He had to sow the seeds of creation. He first sowed the seeds of the heaven and the earth and all its fullness. The seeds God sown, proceeded from His mouth confirming the Word as the seed (Matthew 13:18-23). God didn’t bypass His Word – as the Ultimate seed which all other seeds were embedded in (John 1:3). The Word of God is a pillar that holds everything in place and keeps them as such (2 Peter 3:7). The word of God is the seed that never perishes. Finally, God had to plant man as a seed in the Garden of Eden to watch and keep it. Because man was a seed planted by God, He was expecting man to produce good fruits.

God was waiting to reap some good fruits of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control from man in Eden (Galatians 5:22-23). God had time to prepare the body of man as potential branches of faithfulness. Our eyes, hands, feet, tongue, ears, mind, and all members of the seeds we need to grow and yield a bountiful harvest of righteousness (Revelation 14:14-19). Our bodies are not our own to use them the way we want. We have to cultivate our seeds well so we can get bountiful harvest for our Lord Jesus Christ. Every talent or gift you have in life or ministry is a seed God has given to you to work with it and be fruitful out of it for Him.

If you don’t prepare the land well, plant the seeds, water them, and watch over them to grow, you can never be fruitful the way God expects you to be. The life we live is all about seed sowing. If you sow attention, care, love, forgiveness, faith, loyalty, and kindness in the lives of people, you will reap the same fruits. It is said that, whatever you give to a woman, she will take it, she will multiply it and will give it back to you. So, imagine you have given a woman the seeds of stress, cheating, mistrust, and rudeness, expect to have hell on earth. Whatever life we are living as seed sowing, whether bountifully or sparingly, is the outcome of the harvest of things we are experiencing.
