Today’s Message, As Authored By David Abankwah Is Entitled As, ANCIENT LANDMARK
And The Main Text Is Taken From Proverbs Chapter 22, Verse Number 28, and I read
Do not remove the ANCIENT LANDMARK which your fathers have set.
Now the exposition
A landmark is an event, marking a unique or important historical change of a course or a template on which important developments depend on or is developed from. Usually, these markings were coined from the position of certain prominent objects on the landscape. Ancient landmarks are important to be set for us and without it, it will be difficult for us not to have certain reference for our godly living. But what ancient landmark was the Bible referring to in Proverbs chapter twenty-two and verse number eight? Ancient landmarks are the legends notable people in the Bible, thus the Patriarchs, Judges and good Kings left behind for our imitation.
The Bible contains all the true-life records concerning good and bad lives certain people lived, and the consequences of their actions, which serve as examples for its readers. Adam fell because there was no ancient landmark or reference for him concerning someone who fell because of the scheme of the devil. The Bible contains many ancient landmarks of moral and immoral characters that should guide our godly living. In the Old Dispensation, there were things many Patriarchs did, that Christians should not imitate. Evil ancient landmarks such as polygamy can be associated with King Solomon; iniquity associated with King David and the rest.
Ancient landmark which is associated with Esau; anger associated with Moses, incest
associated with Amnon, prostitution associated with Rahab; drunkenness
associated with Noah and what have you. Yet, there are good ancient landmarks such as faith associated with Abraham; righteousness and holiness associated with Jesus Christ – the Messiah; love, peace, longsuffering, self-control, faithfulness, gentleness and joy associated with the Apostles; giving associated with Tabitha; kindness associated with Mary Magdalene; goodness associated with the good Samaritan; fasting and prayers associated with Anna the Prophetess and what have you.
I, therefore, entreat us to follow the good examples of the Biblical ancestors and try as much as possible to eschew the evil some did. Now, God is still giving us Ministers who are also setting ancient landmarks for our imitation (1 Corinthians 11:1). Though many earthly fathers are imperfect, one still needs a father to give him a sense of direction and guidance in the Lord (1 Corinthians 4:15). It is not a matter of age, status, church, qualification, title or whatever. The message of Truth proceeding from the person is what you have to be mindful of. Do well to follow the good examples of the ministers of God and strictly avoid their mistakes, shortcomings or limitations.
Prayer Diary
1. Lift up prayers for the strength to follow the good ancient landmarks of faith, righteousness, holiness, love, sound judgement, meekness, goodness and joy set by the Patriarchs, the Judges, the Prophets, Jesus Christ and the Apostles.
2. Bind every evil spirit that influences you to live according to evil ancient landmarks (name them) set by your ancestors or people you look up to in life, Godliness, and ministry in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
“Life is too short in discovering new things because there is nothing new under the sun. You will do exploits if you imitate ancient landmarks”
Stay Blessed
