BARREN FIG TREE

Welcome To The Davidic Podcast

Today’s Message, As Authored By David Abankwah, Is Entitled As BARREN FIG TREE

And The Main Text Is Taken From Luke Chapter 13, And Its Verse Number 7, The New King James Version.

Then he said to the keeper of his vineyard, ‘Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and find none. Cut it down; why does it use up the ground?’

Further Scriptural Reading: Matthew Chapter 3, Verse Number 10.

Jesus Christ normally spoke in parables when He preached to the crowd without interpretation but taught whenever he was with the disciples. That is the benefit of intimate fellowship. Even the parables He preached about were so basic and down-to-earth messages that could be grasped by little children too. In one of Jesus Christ’s parables, He spoke about a certain man who had a vineyard. In this vineyard, He cultivated fig trees and left it in the care of a dresser. Anytime the owner came to find fruit on this fig tree, he found none. Expressing his (owner) grievances, the keeper of the vineyard bought time for this barren fig tree. The man who was the owner of the vineyard is God.

The dresser is Jesus Christ or Holy Spirit and the fig trees are Christians. Jesus Christ is the one who keeps and watches the vineyard through the Holy Spirit. In the vineyard, there was one particular tree that was barren. This is what happens when we go to church often but remain unchanged from sin. No matter how well it was been taken care of, it was still not bearing fruit. The owner of the vineyard wanted to have that unfruitful tree cut down and destroyed because it was claiming space and competing with the other fruitful fig trees for nutrients in the soil. But the dresser who is Jesus Christ – the Mediator between God and man, pleaded on its behalf.

He asked for extra time to help this tree out, so He could cause it to receive the extra nutrients that dung could provide which probably, the soil of the vineyard wasn’t providing for that fig tree (Luke 13:8). How long is Jesus Christ going to plead with the Father for our unfruitfulness? Many Christians have the extra nutrients that lie in the messages of fruit-bearing they hear, yet they are still fruitless. If a couple does not engage in sex, how can they procreate? Fruitfulness is the ability of the Christian to engage in activities that enhance the increment of his faith and the conversion of many lost souls. As you strive to win more souls for God, you should not forget about your own salvation.

We must work out your own salvation with fear and trembling as workers in the vineyard who want to win more souls for the expansion of God’s kingdom. You can’t go to church and warm the church pews and return home fruitless. What is your essence of the church you attend if you can’t do the work of God? You are called to dwell in God’s vineyard for the purpose of winning the lost souls for our Lord Jesus Christ.
Also, fruitfulness is about bearing all the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. As well as Jesus Christ is interested in our fruitfulness of soul-winning (Matthew 28:19-20), He is also interested in our fruitfulness of holiness (Matthew 7:23).

Prayer Diary

1. Lift up prayers for the relentless effort to engage in activities that enhance the growth of your faith and soul-winning.

2. Bind every evil spirit that influences you to turn deaf ears to the messages of fruitfulness you hear so you can also be fruitful in the name of Jesus Christ.

3. Declare that: ‘I am a fruitful Christian. I break the chains of barrenness in the name of Jesus Christ. I will never be barren again. I am a soul winner!’

Quote
“The lives of many people have been taken by God just because such people were unfruitful”
