Hello Dear
Welcome to the Davidic Blog
Today’s Message, As Authored By David Abankwah Is Entitled As, INTERCESSORY PRAYERS
And the main text is taken from second Thessalonians Chapter 3, Verse Numbers 1 and 2, The New King James Version of the Bible
And I read
Finally, brethren, PRAY FOR US, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.
Now the exposition
Intercession is a prayer to God on behalf of another person or the act of intervening (as to mediate a dispute). In one of the fierce persecutions of the church (especially the persecution that had arisen over Stephen in Acts 17:19), King Herod rose himself up against some members of the church. He had James, the brother of John, executed with a sword (Acts 12:2). When he saw that the deed had pleased the Jews, he arrested Peter, the leader of the church too. The church did not sit down for Peter to be killed as they were quiet when James was killed. They didn’t neglect the situation at hand because of their busy schedules but reasoned to pray.
They realised they had to move out from the circles of their comfort zones and intercede for their leader. If it had been our generation, we would have sent messages of the news on social media and gossiped about it instead of praying. The church laid down her own issues of life and interceded. They knew that intercessory prayer was enough to cause a turnaround. When you hear that a Minister of God has fallen, what do you do about it? Do you gossip around or do you intercede for the person? Church members often slander their Pastors when things go wrong, but they are unwise to pray for them. There is power in intercessory prayers when it is lifted up.
After the church met and interceded for Peter, God responded that very night. He sent an angel to rescue Peter out of prison. Fasting and prayers move God to respond quickly in the affairs of men, but intercessory prayers make heaven kiss the earth. What prayer cannot do, God cannot do. As God is doing for others because you are interceding for them, He is also preparing something in stock for you that will blow your mind. The Lord’s prayer is OUR FATHER and not MY FATHER. It teaches us that we should not only offer selfish prayers but we must intercede for others. We are alive because of the intercessory prayers of others we are unaware of.
Things are working well for us because of certain unheard and untold intercessory prayers lifted up for us. We are still in the grace because of the intercessory prayers Jesus Christ lifted up for us in John 17:20-26. Jesus Christ also interceded for all of His disciples in John 17:6-19. Peter enjoyed intercession from Jesus Christ too. Jesus Christ, our role model, specifically interceded for Apostle Peter when Satan wanted to cause him to fall in Luke 22:31-32. Still, Jesus Christ is interceding for us in heaven as our mediator between God and man. Let us, therefore, make it a point to intercede for others here on earth, especially lifting up intercessory prayers for the salvation of lost souls.
Prayer Diary
1. Lift up prayers and intercede for the church, your family, friends, loved ones, enemies, the country you are in and the entire world to know God and to know Him well.
2. Lift up prayers for the Spirit of intercession to fill you so you will have the love, strength, grace and the remembrance to intercede for people always, anytime you stand before God in prayer.
3. Bind every selfish spirit that makes you think about your interests alone other than the interest of others in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
“God is readily moved by the engagement of a believer’s intercessory prayers”
