PROFIT MAKING

Hello beloved of Christ

Welcome to the Davidic Blog

Today’s Message As Authored By David Abankwah, under the auspices of God’s inspiration, is entitled as: PROFIT MAKING

And the main text is taken from Hosea, the Prophet, chapter 12, and its verse number 7, The New English Translation Of The Bible

And I quote

The businessmen love to cheat; they use dishonest scales.

The Bible has a say about what, and how profits in the various businesses we work in, should be made. No one wants to make losses at all. It is always a sad demeanour around businessmen and women, who ply their trade concerning products and services they render. Today because of profit making, there are so many evil deeds going on in the corporate world. In a well-rehearsed marital sage on the lips of many mothers who advise their daughters on is that: ‘When you get any losses, leave it in your matrimonial home, but when you get any profit, bring it to your mum and dad.’ Are you in the marriage for profit or for help? This brings us to the question: What is profit?

Profit as a business terminology, is the excess of revenues over outlays in a period, thus, including depreciation and other non-cash expenses, but to the layman, profit is the helpful quality of being beneficial. There is nothing wrong with making profits, but it is how we make them that concerns God. As a Christian, make money the right way. Having a job that will enable you to get more money, but will prevent you from going to church or engaging in spiritual activities, is a false abomination. If a job denies you from getting closer to God, quit it. Your salvation is more important than money. I was once questioned by a friend when I was doing my national service.

He asked: ‘What will I do, if I have a job opportunity to work in a company, that manufactures alcoholic beverages knowing that, this is the only job vacancy available for me as an unemployed person who is a believer?’ I paused for a while and answered, ‘I will never work for such a company because, I am a Christian.’ He was not surprised for that answer, because he knew who I was. There are so many believers who will go to hell, just because of the secular work they do, as seen in First Thessalonians 4:11, and how lackadaisical they are, towards the work of God, as seen in Jeremiah 48:10. It is said in the Bible that, the hands that do not work must not eat, but, it is not every work that a believer should do.

Little food on the table through godly secular work, is better than having a party through evil work. A lot of cheating, negative work ethics, dishonesty, and corruption, are at the peak in the various workplaces and many believers are victims of that. Many people give testimonies in churches, concerning how God has made a breakthrough in their financial lives, but within, they know they made that money through deviant means. Don’t be carried away by the Spirit of mammon, who is Satan’s right-handed and trusted Assistant. It is good to be self-employed as a Christian, so you can make money the right way, than to work for an ungodly person and rot in the lake of fire.

Prayer Diary
1. Lift up prayers to refrain from all negative work ethics in the workplace you find yourself.

2. Lift up prayers for the need to see church meetings as important and must-go, anytime you want to excuse yourself from them because of secular work.

3. Lift up prayers for divine innovation to open your own business as a Christian entrepreneur in the name of Jesus Christ.

Quote
As a Christian, it is not every secular business opportunity you can create or any job you can take
