Hello Beloved of Christ
Welcome to the Davidic Blog
Today’s message, as authored by David Abanquah, under the auspices of God’s inspiration, is entitled as: ADVICE
And the main text is taken from The Book Of Proverbs, The Writings, Chapter 31, and its verse number 3, The New King James Version Of The Bible
And I Quote
Do not give your strength to women, Nor your ways to that which destroys kings.
Now the exposition
We have many rulers around us. Rulers in the nuclear family who are husbands; rulers in schools who are Principals; rulers in the country who are Presidents and Kings etc, and rulers in churches who are the five-fold ministers, thus Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and, Teachers, and other rulers we call bosses, Masters, lords and what have you. Mostly, those who rule don’t want to be advised by their subordinates at all. They think as leaders, they are wiser than the ones they rule over. With all the wisdom King Solomon had, His mother, Bathsheba, the then Queenmother of Israel, had to become the King’s Special Advisor many times. It is very important for you to be advised.
The one who loves discipline loves knowledge, but the one who hates reproof is stupid, as seen in Proverbs 12:1. It is not all pieces of advice that you and I need to take, because, certain bits of advice are bad, and they will not benefit your Christianity. Yet, this should not make you ignore every advice you hear. You need to siphon the good stuff from the sea of advice you have at your disposal. You may not like the person who is advising you but, you need to take the positive advice and act upon it. King Solomon became a wise President over Israel, yet he had Advisors who were constantly guiding him with what they thought would work, and what they knew would move the nation forward.
Yet, these Advisors couldn’t interfere with the personal life of their President. As the King was sleeping with all kinds of women he wanted in the palace and hotels, drinking alcohol, and engaging in all kinds of deviant behaviours, the Advisors kept mute on his personal life. Be concerned about those who always speak positive things about you, but cannot tell you the shortcomings you have and advise you on them. The Queenmother realised that, if she also keeps mute, his son’s life would be destroyed. She then advised him not to give his strength to women by sleeping with them, and then giving them his money in addition as seen in Proverbs 31:3. She also advised him not to take in alcohol.
Bathsheba knew alcohol could hamper the reputation of good kings, as seen in Proverbs 31:4, yet, King Solomon didn’t listen to such a good advice. King Solomon refused to listen to many good advice of his mother, and ended up marrying 700 women and 300 concubines, as seen in 1 Kings 11:3. These women led him astray from God, through the practice of idolatry, and when Solomon was old, he was not a worshipper of the God who gave Him the wisdom to rule, and wisdom to pay attention to good advice, 1 Kings 11:4.
King Solomon had wisdom to rule Israel, but not wisdom to rule His own life to concord with the tenets of God. You need advice because, you may be lacking in a certain area of life.
Prayer Diary
1. Lift up prayers for quick admittance of your faults and repentance anytime you are pointed to your errors.
2. Lift up prayers to be humble under the authorities placed over you.
3. Lift up prayers for the strength to act upon good pieces of advice you hear.
4. Lift up prayers and bind every evil spirit that makes you stubborn, stiff-necked, bitter, and rebellious towards your Advisors in the name of Jesus Christ.
Quote
If God who is Omniscient was advised by Moses for Him to take, then no one is above advice.
